What Would War With Iran Mean for the US? Tucker Discusses on His Latest Episode.

The chances of escalation in Israel’s war with Hamas are growing each day—a reality Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have acknowledged. And some U.S. lawmakers seem to be pushing the prospect forward. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), for example, vowed recently to take action to get the U.S. involved should Iranian-backed Hezbollah launch a large-scale attack on Israel.

If that happens, Graham said he’d “consider that a threat to the... state of Israel, existential in nature. I will introduce a resolution [in] the United States Senate to allow military action by the United States in conjunction with Israel to knock Iran out of the Oil Business..."

What, exactly, would that mean for America? Tucker Carlson sat down Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret.) to discuss.

“Do you believe we are moving toward war with Iran?” Carlson asked, wondering if the U.S. is “ready for this.”

“Yes, I do,” Macgregor replied. “And it looks like the chosen destination is indeed Armageddon.”

He said no one is thinking through the situation, “everyone right now is emoting.” There would be “catastrophe” on the economic side, and on the military side, he pointed out that Iran possess an arsenal of missiles that would be incredibly damaging and accurate.

If the U.S. followed Graham’s advice, Macgregor said all of the bases the U.S. has in Iraq and Syria would be targeted “and the destruction would be wholesale.” But on the domestic front, he also cautioned about Hezbollah attacking since they have a large presence in Mexico, leaving “no doubt many, many, many Hezbollah agents [are] inside the United States. We can only begin to imagine the kind of trouble they could cause."

But the most important point for Americans to consider about a scenario where the U.S. attacks Iran is the likelihood that Russia then gets involved, turning it into much more than a regional war.

"We have to expect the worst as a result if we strike Iran," he said.
