Former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement suggested Monday during an episode of the podcast “Examining Politics” that if he were to ever jump into politics, he has his eye on unseating Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

"Instead of testifying on Capitol Hill how about you join them?" the host asked.

“Let me just say this,” Homan told host Larry O’Connor. “When I do return to New York and if Senator Gillibrand is still around, she won’t be around because I will take her on.”

"Oh you're going for the upper chamber?" O'Connor asked.

"Absolutely," he replied.

The response came after O’Connor asked him about the possibility of running for retiring Rep. Pete King’s (R-NY) seat.

One of Gillibrand’s platforms when she ran for the Democratic presidential nomination was abolishing ICE. She ended her campaign in August.

"I believe that it has become a deportation force. And I think you should separate out the criminal justice from the immigration issues," she said in June 2018. "I think you should reimagine ICE under a new agency, with a very different mission, and take those two missions out. So we believe that we should protect families that need our help, and that is not what ICE is doing today."

“ICE are the good guys. ICE wants to protect the community. ICE wants to take the bad guy off the street,” Homan told O’Connor.

“They put their life on the line for this nation," he added.

While Homan is not currently a New York resident, he was born in the state and plans to take up residency when he retires.

Gillibrand easily won reelection in 2018 with 68 percent of the vote.
