Nunes Accuses Press Of Working For Democrats

This past weekend, sensitive documents were released which were related to the wire-tapping of Carter Page, a one time Trump campaign aide.  Journalists reacted to the release of these documents with a broad range of actions speculating on  if the release of these documents adds credence or detracts from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.)  memo on alleged surveillance abuse.

While addressing journalistic coverage of the released document Nunes accused “certain members of the press” of working for the Democratic Party, during his remarks Monday, reported the Washington Examiner.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham referenced a section in the Lawfare blog post, that was written by ex-British spy Christopher Steele which focused “on the role the Trump dossier” had in convincing the Foreign Intelligence Service Court to approve spy warrants on Carter Page for his suspicious ties to Russia, has been often repeated by Nunes critics.

"Now we can see that the footnote disclosing Steele’s possible bias takes up more than a full page in the applications, so there is literally no way the FISA Court could have missed it. The FBI gave the court enough information to evaluate Steele’s credibility," wrote Steele in the Lawfare blog post

Nunes remained unshaken and included Lawfare in the group of Democrat-aligned media outlets.

"One of the things you have to realize that with all the press. Certain members of the press work for the Democratic Party. And the Lawfare blog is one of them," the California Republican said. "Every day there's a new attack. I don't put a lot of credibility into what they say."

Nunes explained that relying on the unverified dossier, who suggests that Russia holds compromising information on President Trump, is a cause for concern. The House Intelligence memo that was released in February found that the dossier was an essential piece of the initial FISA applications as well as all three renewal applications.
