Watch: President Trump Welcomes Home Freed American from Egyptian Detention Center

Aya Hijazi, an American humanitarian worker who had been detained in Egypt for over three years, was welcomed home by President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday.

"We are happy to have Aya back home," President Trump said.

Hijazi was charged with child abuse crimes during her time in Egypt, which were later determined to be false.

According to one report, Barack Obama tried negotiating terms of her release several years ago but failed.
