President Trump to Deliver First Commencement Speech at US Coast Guard Academy

President Donald Trump will be giving his first commencement speech before graduates of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on May 17, according to the White House.

The announcement was made on Wednesday during the White House press briefing.

"The president will be giving the commencement address at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. on May 17,” Press Secretary Sean Spicer said.

In March, the University of Notre Dame announced that Vice President Mike Pence would be giving the 2017 commencement speech instead of President Trump, breaking a tradition that goes back to the Reagan administration.
