After years of aggression and threats to destabilize the Pacific region, dictator Kim Jong Un has been defiant to recent U.S. sanctions.

Last week, President Trump was briefed by the National Security Council on possible military actions against the authoritarian state.  Arming South Korea with nuclear missiles and assassinating Jong-un were both options on the table.

However, successful talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier in the week may lead to diplomatic pressure on Pyongyang.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe praised the decision, calling it a "strong commitment" from President Trump and the United States.
