Trump Confirms Meeting With Mexican Billionaire Carlos Slim

Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed a Washington Post report that he met with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

The meeting came after the two rich businessmen feuded throughout the campaign. Trump accused Slim of using his connections at the New York Times to smear his image. Slim vehemently denied those claims. Slim also criticized Trump’s promises to renegotiate the North American Free Trade deal (NAFTA) and to build a wall at the American-Mexican border with Mexico’s money.

However, the two have apparently cleared the air after their meet-up at the Mar-a-Lago last Saturday.

Carlos Slim, ranked for several years as the richest person in the world, even praised Trump’s economic ambitions – saying that if the U.S. economy performs well then it will be beneficial for Mexico, as well. He would like to see the U.S. grow at four percent and lower taxes.
