"Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer" will be the first political movie that will play in the White House under the Trump Administration.

“It’s sending a very powerful message,” wrote Phelim McAleer, Ann McElhinney and Magdalena Segieda, the producers of the film. “We couldn't be more grateful to our nearly 30,000 Indiegogo supporters who made this movie a reality.”

They announced their accomplishments in a letter Wednesday, asking supporters to thank President Donald Trump on Twitter for “recognizing the importance” of the movie in today’s pro-abortion climate.

“Gosnell” tells the real-life story of Kermit Gosnell, a doctor who is serving life sentences for murdering three babies. Gosnell was accused of killing the infants after they survived an abortion. In March, Gosnell emailed the producers of the film and told them he had doubts that Pennsylvania would change its position on “Therapeutic Abortion.”

“I have doubts that rural conservative PA will liberalize it’s (sic) posture on Therapeutic Abortion in the foreseeable future,” he wrote.

News of Gosnell’s email surfaced around the time when New York passed late-term abortion laws, measures that gained mass controversy.

In the letter, the producers said that Slate, an online news publication, broke the news of their scheduled screening in the White House. They identified Slate as a “left wing outlet” and criticized them for calling their film “gory.”

“The story broke in left wing outlet Slate which in a classic example of Fake News described the Gosnell Movie as ‘gory,’” they wrote. “It is not gory - it is PG 13.”

Kira Davis, a columnist of Townhall, said the same thing on Twitter.

Editor's Note: The article originally stated that the producers of "Gosnell" sent out a "press release" to supporters. It has been updated to say that it was a letter.
