A YouTube video posted on March 20 exposed similarities between the Left and the Ku Klux Klan when it comes to race-based housing.

Ami Horowitz, a political filmmaker and satirist, went to Columbia University in New York to ask students whether they approved of separate housing for minorities.

“I mean, a lot of schools have interest housing where black students and people of color can live together,” one student told Horowitz.

“Separate from white people,” Horowitz responded.

“Yeah, it’s like a normal thing at most campuses I think,” the student replied.

“And you guys are cool with that?”

“Yeah.”

Eight other students Horowitz interviewed said that they were in support of separate housing, graduation and “safe spaces” for minority students. But black citizens outside of the university held different opinions.

“Why?” asked one woman Horowitz interviewed. “Why? Are you going back in time? Why are you separating? You were all together.”

A younger man said he felt like race-based housing, “is basically segregation.”

“We should all graduate together,” he said.

“It’s all about social skills,” another man told Horowitz. “And if you can’t converse with people who are not of the same skin color as you, then there’s no reason for you to be social at all.”

In the video, Horowitz talked about the 1954-1955 Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education. The justices ruled that states could not legally enforce segregation in schools. Chief Justice Earl Warren said, “We conclude that in the field of public education the doctrine of 'separate but equal' has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.”

One of the students at Columbia said that they knew of the famous case but said they didn’t know if the court’s conclusion plays a role in race-based housing. Other students said they felt “separate but equal” programs for different races wasn’t unethical.

It seems some of the students at Columbia wouldn’t have agreed with Justice Warren, and neither would Chris Barker, a North Carolinian imperial wizard for the White Knights of the KKK. Barker and another clan member named William Hagen were arrested in 2016 for stabbing a man in a KKK meeting in East Yanceyville. Horowitz said it was over an argument about who was more racist.

“I think it’s a good thing,” Barker said about universities creating separate housing and programs based on race, “and I also think it’s in people’s nature. I mean it’s in everybody’s nature to be with their own kind.”

Barker told Horowitz that he is glad the Left is taking a segregated position in the educated system and he hopes that the political group will continue to move toward his point of view.

“We’re still a segregated nation regardless and it’s always going to be that way,” Barker said.
