The Other Half of the Government Medicine Debate

Ever feel like you're just not getting the full story from the media when it covers the President's and Congressional Democrats' health care proposals?  Well, you would not be alone.  Fortunately, to supplement the recent ABC infomercial featuring President Obama touting his health care agenda, some skeptics of the Obama plan teamed up and hosted a health care panel discussion of their own.

'The Other Half of the Government Medicine Debate the Media Should Be Having' was hosted by Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), the Media Research Center (MRC) and the Health Care Freedom Coalition.  Moderated by ATR president Grover Norquist, the panel featured Sen. Jim DeMint, Republican Study Committee Chairman Rep. Tom Price, as well as numerous health care policy experts not so enamored of the government medicine proposals put forth by the Administration and Congressional Democrats.

What are you not hearing from the media about these proposals?  Will these proposals really not lead to rationing of health care services?  How has the Canadian system really fared?  Will the proposals under consideration really let you keep your current health care coverage?  Will they really not grow the budget deficit?  Do Republicans really just want the status quo, or have they already offered alternatives?  These and many more lingering questions Americans don't get to have adequately covered by mainstream media are addressed in depth by a remarkable collection of leaders and experts.

MRC and ATR deserve a lot of credit for this attempt to revive public discourse over something so consequential as comprehensive health care reform.  The impacts of Democratic health care legislation moving through Congress are massive and life-changing.  Americans deserve to know about them.
