WSJ/NBC: Americans Are Confident Trump Will Bring Change

A majority of Americans are confident President-elect Donald Trump will bring change to Washington. However, not everyone believes that those changes will be good.

A recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll discovered that 68 percent of U.S. adults believe Trump will “change the way business is conducted in Washington.” Unfortunately, around a third of those people believe he will instill “the wrong kind of change.”

Another thirty-two percent of Americans think Trump will fail to bring any sort of change to Washington. As WSJ pointed out, this means more than half of U.S. adults believe Trump will either bring negative change or no change at all to our nation’s capital.

The poll also found that half of Americans approve, and 41 percent disapprove, of Trump’s transition. Comparatively in 2008, 73 percent approved of President Barack Obama’s transition, while only 13 percent disapproved.

Unsurprisingly, approval of how Trump is preparing for the White House is higher among Republicans. Approximately 82 percent of Republicans approve of Trump’s transition,  while only 12 percent of Democrats approve of his transition.

The survey was conducted between December 12 and 15 and consisted of 1,000 adults. The margin of error was 3.1 percentage points.
