Biden Gives Up Trying to Quote the Declaration of Independence

Oh boy. Joe Biden's gaffes are becoming more frequent now. And it's pretty bad timing considering the Democratic Party is now putting all their chips into his campaign. Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden. But in the course of a day, the former vice president managed to forget what presidential contest he was campaigning for this week and unwittingly undermined his own economic agenda.

Most egregiously, however, he forgot the words to our great Declaration of Independence. Most Americans can cite the beginning of the document by heart, most certainly those running to be president of the United States. Right?

Not Joe. While he began quoting the document at a recent campaign event, he quickly realized he didn't know all the words, and recitation turned into a ramble.

"We owe these truths to be self-evident," he said. "All men and women created, by the - go, you know, you know the thing."

The RNC had a field day with it.

Lest we forget, the actual text:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

The gaffes kept coming Monday night, when Biden appeared to attribute a campaign quote to the wrong guy.
