Lindsey Graham: 'I Don't Give a Damn' What Rep. Jeffries Says About My Friendship With McCain

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) recently criticized Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for being so friendly with President Trump when he continues to attack the late Sen. John McCain. Graham and McCain were great friends, Jeffries noted, but "then Donald Trump gets elected, and Donald Trump continues to bash John McCain in reprehensible ways, and Lindsey Graham, on the issue, is in the witness protection program.”

As recent as last week, Trump was fuming at McCain for changing his vote on the GOP-led plan to repeal and replace Obamacare. His "no" vote helped derail the bill and in turn left Americans in a precarious position, Trump charged. He also noted on Twitter how McCain sent the uncorroborated Christopher Steele dossier to the FBI, reportedly at the prompting of Sen. Graham.

"I was never a fan of John McCain, and I never will be," Trump concluded.

At this week's House Democratic Caucus press briefing, Jeffries said perhaps Graham should "resolve" the issue of his chumminess with Trump before lecturing Democrats about their role in the Robert Mueller Russia investigation.

"I don't give a damn" what anyone says about his relationship with McCain or Trump, Graham responded during a CNN interview on Wednesday.

The senator refuses to give in to the notion that "the only way to honor Mccain is to trash Trump."

Graham had nothing but kind things to say about the president, who he says "has allowed me into his world."

"He's been good to me," Graham said, and he intends to help Trump be successful.
