Chelsea Manning Released 28 Years Early

Pvt. Chelsea Manning has been released from a military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., after serving seven years of a 35-year sentence. Manning, who identified as Bradley Manning before transitioning into a woman in 2013, was convicted on espionage charges after sharing U.S. national security secrets with Julian Assange's WikiLeaks. President Obama, however, decided to commute Manning's sentence before he left office.

The Army has confirmed Manning's release Wednesday.

Manning is expected to move to Maryland and receive plenty of benefits.
