Jury Reaches Decision in Boston Marathon Bomber Case UPDATE: Sentenced To Death

The jury in the penalty phase of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's trial for the Boston Marathon bombings has reached a verdict. Updates will be coming soon.

Tsarnaev was convicted of 30 counts on April 8. Seventeen of the counts carried a possible penalty of death.

UPDATE: Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death.

Prior to the announcement of the jury's decision, a series of aggravating and mitigating factors had to be read and considered. After this, it was announced that Tsarnaev had been sentenced to death.

It is expected that he will appeal. Tsarnaev reportedly showed no emotion after learning of his sentence.
