ObamaCare Facilitates Left GOTV Efforts

Last year -- on Halloween, appropriately enough -- I pointed out the ways that ObamaCare was, in fact, seemingly designed to serve as a huge lefty get-out-the-vote (GOTV) operation.

Well, not so surprisingly, yesterday the ACLU sent out a press release claiming a great victory: As part of a settlement with the ACLU and a bunch of other lefty groups, California will send out voter registration information to the nearly 4 million people who have signed up for health care through the state exchange.

Presumably, the plan is for those who couldn't obtain coverage before -- but now have, perhaps with subsidies -- to be reminded as a result that they really should vote for those generous souls in government who have provided them with the benefits they enjoy.

One can only hope that many of those new to Covered California are tolerating the same glitches, mismanagement and stratospheric prices confronting new ObamaCare enrollees elsewhere. If that's the case, this voter registration gambit may backfire on the left . . . big time.
