RNC Chairwoman: Shameful Democrats Are Pushing Election Reform During Time of Crisis

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is calling out Democrats for exploiting the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic to push for election reform. In an interview on Fox Business with Lou Dobbs, Chairwoman McDaniel explained how vote-by-mail reforms threaten the integrity of our elections.

"It really has been shameful to see the Democrats try and put these election reforms across the country during a time of crisis," McDaniel said on Wednesday. "This is their liberal agenda. They want to take away the safeguards that ensure the integrity of the election process. Every American should be paying attention to what they want to do. It is frightening."

Under the guise of Wuhan coronavirus relief legislation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for several election reforms. The proposals included mandatory early voting and mandatory vote-by-mail, as well as the legalization of ballot harvesting, whereby one person may turn in ballots on behalf of other individuals. Such ballot harvesting is credited for helping Democrats flip several House seats from red to blue in California. Even the New York Times admits voting experts say mail voting systems are more vulnerable to fraud than voting conducted in person.

While "everyone who is able to vote" should "be able to do so," Chairwoman McDaniel says it's important to have safeguards in place to stamp out fraud in our elections.

"In California, when they went into that state and filed a lawsuit, they found that there were 1.5 million more people registered to vote than there were adults in the state," McDaniel said. "That is the problem with mail-in voting, you are sending out ballots to people who no longer live in state or passed away."

"Democrats and the mainstream media always scoff at claims of voter fraud, but then completely ignore evidence from across the country," Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Pascale said in a statement. "The obvious reason is that Democrats are just fine with the possibility of voter fraud. And many in the media just see the world their way."

The Heritage Foundation has documented more than 1,000 cases of voter fraud in elections across the United States.
