Chelsea Clinton Headlines ‘Rise Up for Roe’ Event, Thanks Planned Parenthood and NARAL

After participating in a “Rise Up for Roe” kick-off event Saturday in New York City, Chelsea Clinton tweeted her thanks to Planned Parenthood and NARAL for their work to protect women’s rights.

“Thank you #RiseUpForRoe for a great event today. Even more, deepest gratitude for all you, @PPact & @NARAL are doing to protect women’s rights to make the choices we think best for ourselves and our families. #NotGoingBack,” she wrote

Saturday’s event began a 10-city tour whose purpose is to “talk about the very real threat #Kavanaugh poses to abortion rights.”

The tour is being organized by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the Demand Justice Initiative and will feature speakers Alyssa Milano, Cecile Richards, and Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Pro-abortion advocates have voiced concern that the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the SCOTUS will eventually eliminate women’s rights and access to abortion.

“Securing safe and affordable abortion access is an ongoing fight, one that’s increasingly distressing,” writes Frida Garza of the website, The Slot.

“In the nearly two years since Donald Trump took office, his administration has succeeded in appointing extreme judges to the federal bench and naming anti-abortion ideologues to oversee crucial agencies… As a lower district judge, Kavanaugh successfully side-stepped questions about his personal views on Roe v. Wade, but abortion activists believe that, based on his history of conservative rulings, it’s likely that he will work to overturn Roe — a promise Trump has made to his supporters.”

However, critics argue that although pro-abortion advocates are dissatisfied with President Trump’s nominee, they themselves are “sustaining a culture of death.”

“Organizations like the NARAL declare that ending the life of an unborn child is indeed a constitutional right,” wrote Kimberly Ross.

No longer is ‘safe, legal, and rare’ their go-to branding. Apparently, right in line behind the freedoms of speech, religion, and the press is the ability to access a life-ending choice for an unborn individual. The very people denouncing Kavanaugh’s nomination applaud a disastrous 7-2 decision that ushered in the legally protected killing of millions.”

However, Ross said the fear tactics used by pro-abortion advocates are “hardly new.”

“The abortion industry and its supporters thrive on that very strategy. In the fight to stop Kavanuagh’s confirmation, they even claim the entire ‘future of our democracy’ is at stake.”

During a press conference in July, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said “A vote for Judge Kavanaugh is a vote to destroy Roe v. Wade.”

“It’s a vote to roll back a generation of progress for women and their families. But we don’t agonize, we organize because we know that a Democratic Congress can stop much of the Supreme Court’s awful assaults.”

“Pelosi also claimed that some of Kavanaugh’s past comments put “everything at risk.”

“Roe v. Wade, a woman’s right to choose, Brown v. Board of Education, civil rights, environmental issues, gun safety the list goes on and on,” she said.

However, confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh are set to begin on September 4, according to an announcement by Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley.
