These Lies About Susan Collins Are Why Democrats Climbed in Bed With Graham Platner

If you were wondering just how untethered from reality the Left has become, look no further than the rhetoric they're using to describe Senator Susan Collins, the very moderate Republican from Maine. I don't live in Maine, but if I did, Collins would have my vote. Not necessarily because she's as Republican as I would like, but because she's better than anything the Democrats have to offer.

I'm also a realist about Collins' track record in the Senate. She, as I said, is a moderate Republican and one of the most bipartisan members of the Senate, often breaking with her fellow Republicans on spending, health care, and social issues. From 1997 to 2016, Collins voted with Republicans about 59 percent of the time, and only 87 percent of the time in 2017, per FiveThirtyEight/CQ data. From 2022 to 2024, Collins voted with Republicans between 28 and 48 percent of the time, putting her near the bottom with Senator Lisa Murkowski. In Trump's second term, she ranks among the lowest Trump-aligned Republicans, along with Murkowski and Senator Rand Paul.

She was also one of seven Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump in 2021.

Despite this moderate record, the Left has decided to paint Collins as Eva Braun reincarnated, calling her a 'radical' and an 'extremist.'

I couldn't even type that line without laughing.

But Jennifer Welch, and I will never understand why this box-wine harpy is a thing, took it a step further in saying Susan Collins has killed women, which is justification for supporting the 'Boy Scout' Graham Platner.

"I think about Susan Collins and Graham Platner, and I think about the biggest resistance to Graham Platner is not what we just saw with Ted Cruz. I hear it the most from people within the Democratic Party," Welch said.

"And Susan Collins is diabolical. Women are dead all over the country because Susan Collins was the deciding vote for Brett Kavanaugh," she continued, "and in my home state of Oklahoma, women are dying. Women are dying in Georgia if you look at the ProPublica reporting. Women are dying in Texas, and Susan Collins has blood on her hands. She has a track record that makes Graham Platner's Reddit posts and tattoo look like a Boy Scout."

"Susan Collins is a part of the MAGA death cult, where every single policy they vote for leads to death while lying to everybody and telling you're they're pro-life," Welch said. "And so the patronizing nature from the Democratic Party to treat the voters of Maine as though they cannot deduce ... that Susan Collins is a pathological, diabolical liar and Graham Platner is willing to say, 'Look, I was f***ed up, I had an online record, I got this f***ed up tattoo, but here's where I am now.' We have to believe these people."

Right. Susan Collins is a liar, but Platner is telling us the truth when he says he's changed.

What a load of hooey.

No woman has died because Susan Collins voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh. The ProPublica reporting about Georgia's abortion laws was based on a lie. Women are, however, dying because Joe Biden removed all guardrails and oversight from the abortion pill Mifepristone, making it readily available by mail — where even men can obtain it to give it to their pregnant girlfriends or wives, often without the woman's consent. Oh, and the FDA lied about the serious risks of the medication, saying a small fraction suffer complications. That real number is closer to one in ten women, and the complications include infections, bleeding, and sepsis.

Platner, on the other hand, allegedly raped a woman while he dated her. He was abusive towards another woman he dated. He encouraged a teenager to commit suicide. He had a literal Nazi tattoo on his chest.

Remember when Democrats were worried about Nazis and wanted to punch them?

They push these false narratives about moderate Republicans like Susan Collins because if they were honest about her track record — one Maine voters have thus far been satisfied enough with to keep sending Collins back to the Senate — they wouldn't stand a chance in the midterms.

If the Democrats' argument is that Susan Collins is 'diabolical,' why aren't they running a decent Democrat against her in Maine? Turns out Troy Jackson, considered a likely replacement for Platner, has problems too, including reportedly hitting a woman with a water bottle during a disagreement. Jackson denies that it happened.

I've been told repeatedly that Democrats are the moral party, the party of adults, the good guys. Yet they keep putting forth scumbag candidate after scumbag candidate. That's not a coincidence. And until Democrats are honest about Republicans, they'll keep making this same mistake.
