Following the overthrow of the French monarchy and the execution of King Louis XVI in 1793, the French Revolution devolved into what is now known as the Reign of Terror. Led by Maximilien Robespierre, the Committee of Public Safety held dictatorial power, and they used it. Under the Law of Suspects, anyone suspected of 'counter-revolutionary activity' — which was broadly defined to include former nobles, clergy, moderates, and critics — was given a swift trial with limited due process.
In short, anyone who ran afoul of Robespierre and the Committee of Public Safety risked execution. From the fall of 1793 to July of 1794, more than 15,000 people were executed via guillotine and when all other causes of deaths (from other massacres, prison conditions, and related violence) reached at least 40,000. At its peak, hundreds were executed weekly in Paris.
In the end, the Thermidorian Reaction saw Robespierre and others arrested and guillotined without trial.
It took four years for the French Revolution to devolve into the Reign of Terror. And now the Democratic Party is having its own Reign of Terror, and it didn't take four years. It took about four minutes.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have also said they're going to purge the Democratic Party and use the platform to gain national office and enact their agenda. Darializa Avila Chevalier, the DSA candidate for NY-13, called Joe Biden a 'rapist' and said 'f**k Kamala Harris.' That's not simply rhetoric; it's a precursor to a purge. Scott Wiener, who apparently isn't 'queer' enough for the pro-Palestinian crowd, was harassed in public. Chuck Schumer was booed in New York during a Pride parade. White, privileged socialists chanted, 'You're next' about Hakeem Jeffries.
In Providence, Rhode Island, the Pride parade featured a rainbow guillotine poised to behead Brett Smiley, the city's gay Democratic mayor.

Democrats know there's a problem here, and 13 'centrist' Democrats signed a 'Promise to America,' which explicitly rejects the DSA influence and socialism.
As Mark Twain has said, history may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme. And I have long warned Democrats that they were, much like Dr. Frankenstein, creating a monster they would one day not be able to control. Almost a year ago, Democrats had the lightbulb moment that their base was comprised of violent, deranged Leftists who demanded bloodshed. A House Democrat told Axios at the time that, "What I have seen is a demand that we get ourselves arrested intentionally or allow ourselves to be victims of violence." This House Democrat noted the requests were coming from 'economically very secure White people,' which tracks given what we saw in NYC after the primaries.
"The expectations aren't just unreal, they're dangerous," that House Democrat added. That's an understatement. Minnesota's Lt. Governor, Peggy Flanagan, told Leftists to 'put your bodies on the line' for illegal immigrants. Two people, Alex Pretti and Renee Good, did just that, and now they're dead. It was a sacrifice Flanagan was willing to make, however. She wasn't the one out obstructing ICE, you'll notice.
Today's revolutionaries are tomorrow's reactionaries. The Democratic Party used radicalism to advance its agenda, and now the knives are — literally and metaphorically, it seems — out for the Democratic Party's old guard. If the Democrats had bothered to crack a history book, they would have remembered what happened in France and acted sooner to stop the coming Socialist Terror.
But they didn't. They were too focused on destroying Trump and vowing to weaponize the government against conservatives, and aligning themselves with dangerous people to achieve those goals.
