'Visual Propaganda' Is the Media's Latest Anti-Trump Narrative

'Visual Propaganda' Is the Media's Latest Anti-Trump Narrative
Townhall/Katie Pavlich

As I write this, I'm sitting in the O'Hare Airport just north of Chicago, waiting to fly to Egypt for a tour of the country. Before I was dropped off, I stopped for lunch with my eldest son, who was also my chauffeur, at our favorite Chi-Town burger spot. The route to get there takes us through some very run-down parts of the Windy City, which is a testament to the years of Democrat control that have turned this once-great urban gem into a cesspool of crime and violence.

It's a city where the Mayor, Democrat Brandon Johnson, is quick to blame everyone and everything for his city's problems, including Kia and Hyundai for car thefts, Indiana for gun crimes, and social media for the teen takeover mobs. That decline is a choice. Johnson opposes policing, ended the city's Shotspotter contract (which had led to several likely preventable deaths), and calls imprisoning violent criminals 'unholy.'

The reason I didn't take the train to O'Hare is doing so would have required me to take the CTA Blue Line from Union Station to O'Hare. Last fall, a career criminal with several prior arrests set a young woman on fire on the Blue Line. She survived, but her life was forever changed.

Seeing as I want to enjoy my vacation and not spend it writhing in pain in a hospital bed, I opted for my son to drive me.

That decline is a choice. Refusing to prosecute and jail criminals is a choice. And it's one Democrats continue to make. It's not just crime and violence they choose to ignore, either. It's the general quality of life in their cities.

Taxes go up, but buildings remain in disrepair, streets have potholes, graffiti decorates the subways, parks are dumping grounds for homeless meth addicts, and schools churn out illiterate graduates.

So when Donald Trump decided to clean up D.C. — the nation's capital — the Left lost their minds. As I've said before, I understand why. They're not used to fees and tax dollars making real, tangible changes. They're used to the money being swallowed up by bureaucracy or stolen by fraudsters and sent overseas to fund Islamic terrorism in Somalia.

They're not used to actual results.

And they have to, reflexively, oppose anything and everything Donald Trump does.

Now The New Yorker has coined a new term for President Trump's effort to make D.C. beautiful again: visual propaganda.

Simply incredible.

I distinctly remember when Barack Obama spent trillions on his infrastructure program, and how signs bearing his name were slapped up everywhere. I guess that wasn't 'visual propaganda,' huh?

There is something fundamentally rotten with the Left if they think clean streets, accessible parks, and working fountains not caked with graffiti are 'visual propaganda' because they don't like the guy making the improvements.

They're livid that President Trump is reversing the decline that happened under President Joe Biden. They want us to live in squalor, in run-down cities infested with the homeless, controlled by criminals, and burdened by taxes to pay for 'services' that do not benefit anyone save the politicians who line their pockets and pad their resumes.
