Socialism Is the Ideology of Children

With an "orgy of socialism" consuming the Democratic Party — according to Bill Maher and my favorite Democrat, John Fetterman — we are heading into dangerous territory. Because those of us who even paid cursory attention in history class know that socialism leads to death, destruction, and poverty wherever it's tried. It's Communism-Lite, and the two ideologies are different sides of the same totalitarian coin.

It must be stopped at all costs, lest the Left gets to fulfill its most violent, oppressive, fascist fantasies: the wholesale oppression and murder of their political opponents. That's what will happen. Socialism and communism racked up quite the body count in the 20th century, with about 65 million dead in China during Mao's rule, up to 62 million dead in the Soviet Union, 2 million in Cambodia, and 20 million in North Korea, Vietnam, Eastern Europe, and other places.

All told, there are at least 100 million dead, whether from systematic murder, starvation, or gulags.

That's because socialism (and communism) are the ideologies children. And one socialist just admitted as much.

Rarely have I seen a self-own this honest and unaware.

Yes, children — who have mom and dad care for their every need — would think everyone deserves food and shelter. Their brains don't fully develop until they're in their early 20s, after all, and it's easy to think food and shelter are free when you're not the one going to work and paying the bills.

And that's what socialists are: children. Violent, greedy, selfish, emotionally stunted children. We see it in Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, who was a barista while her parents paid her rent and bills. So while septuagenarians are getting beaten on the Seattle streets, Wilson can decry the CCTV cameras that captured the crime, lamenting they "put refugees at risk." Or how she can tell the wealthy who are fleeing her city "bye" as they take with them the wealth that would fund her socialist schemes, or her push to charge investigative journalists with "hate crimes" for uncovering fraud.

The same thing can be said about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who had no real job either before becoming the leader of America's biggest city. Like his Seattle counterpart, Mamdani's rich parents — who have a compound in Uganda — paid his way. Now crime is skyrocketing in the Big Apple, Jews are not safe, and the city is broke, while Mamdani promises more "free" stuff for the masses as he drives the wealth-creators to other states.

But I'm willing to bet that if we also asked children some questions about socialism, they'd speak other truths, too. First, they'd say that stealing is wrong, and that's something socialists do on a daily basis. They'd also say violence is wrong, and socialism's history is replete with examples of state-sanctioned violence. They'd be right on both counts.

That doesn't mean, however, that we should listen to children. Why? Because they're children. They don't live in or understand the real world. And neither do socialists. We shouldn't listen to them, either, and we certainly shouldn't let them have political power.
