In Defense of Female Inmates

The Left has spent years demanding "criminal justice reform," claiming our current system is broken, abusive, racist, and unsalvageable. While I disagree with them, I can't help but notice there's a very easy opportunity for them to address one major injustice in the system: the abuse of female inmates at the hands of "trans identifying" men.

This is the fourth story I've written since joining Townhall, each about women incarcerated in blue states who are forced to share prison cells and facilities with mentally ill, often violent and sexually abusive men. Why? Simply because those men say they're women, and — for Democrats, at least — that's proof enough.

In Minnesota, advocates of female inmates shared letters from them. Here's what one anonymous inmate wrote:

"Two more men just got here. One is Nathan Jones...word is more are coming. This is very disturbing. Us women who earned single cells are being kicked out of our cells so the men who are coming can be put in them. We are all so frustrated and don't know what to do. Nathan Jones isn't trying to appear as a woman at all. He did tell someone he identifies just as a bisexual man. I don't know how true they are, but there are a lot of rumors about him speaking about selling his sperm. I don't know why they are making this a co-ed prison. There are no longer women's prisons in Minnesota."

In Illinois, a "trans identifying man" serving a 22-year sentence for strangling his mother and assaulting her corpse told authorities he felt "unsafe" in the men's prison (gee, I wonder why). Because of his identity, he was moved to the mother and baby unit of a women's prison.

And in Massachusetts, an inmate said she and other women are afraid to speak out, lest they face repercussions:

"Many of us here are afraid to speak out due to the repercussions from the transgender population," the woman's letter said. "Most of the male inmates housed at MCI-Framingham still have intact male genitalia; two out of the ten have had surgery."

Now we can add California to that list, where female inmates are assaulted, impregnated, and terrified by the men housed with them behind bars.

One of those inmates is Tremaine Carroll, who spent more than two decades in the men's prison. He's now standing trial for raping two female inmates.

Look at Carroll's picture.

No one, not one single Leftist, believes that's a woman.

Here are some more of the men housed with women:

Where are the Democrats? Where is Gavin Newsom, who trips over himself to get in front of a microphone to protect "reproductive rights" but can't be bothered to help women imprisoned in his state? Where are the national Democrats, who have spent the better part of this year whining about how the SAVE Act will disenfranchise women voters? Women are being assaulted and raped in prison; they're being punished for being victims or for speaking out, and I don't hear a word from AOC, Ilhan Omar, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, or Hakeem Jeffries.

Instead, they seem to agree with the ACLU that these mentally ill, violent, abusive men magically have some "right" to access a women's prison because they "identify" as women. Perhaps the only way Democrats will learn is if they're subject to massive class-action lawsuits by these women. All it took for the medical community to backpedal on mutilating children in the name of the trans agenda was watching two of their own have to fork over $2 million to a detransitioner named Fox Varian.

I am a proponent of law and order. If these women were arrested, tried, and found guilty for whatever crime(s) they committed, they should have to face those consequences. But they still have rights, and being free from rape, assault, and abuse by men while behind bars is at the top of the limited list of rights those women should be able to enjoy.
