The older I get, the less I care about what people think and feel about me, and the more I care about being able to speak my mind freely. For that, and many other reasons, I am eternally grateful I was born in the United States of America. The First Amendment is unlike anything in the world when it comes to protecting free speech and the free press.
Sure, other countries may say they support the idea of free speech and free thought, but we need look no further than the crumbling British empire to realize that's little more than lip service. In the U.K., Canada, and Australia the powers-that-be have decided that "hurty words" are a crime; instead of using George Orwell as the cautionary tale he was, they used him as an instruction manual.
Now, all three nations are poised to ban X, because they're terrified of free speech.

This is exactly right. The Left — in America and across the globe — are terrified of free speech. Even with the First Amendment, the American Left has made it clear they intend to chip away at our Constitutional right to speak our minds in any way they can, usually in conjunction with a tyrannical global cabal. In Minnesota, Tim Walz pushed for a state hate speech registry, where expressing support for J.K. Rowling could get your name on the list. Walz also said the First Amendment doesn't protect against mis/disinformation or that aforementioned "hate speech."
It does, in fact, protect against all of those. Its purpose is to protect precisely those forms of controversial speech. If someone's speech was socially and politically acceptable, we wouldn't need a First Amendment. But with billions of people in the world, we have billions of different opinions.

They can pretend this fascism (and that's what it is) is for the "greater good." It's not. Never in the history of humanity has someone done something for the "greater good" that wasn't an authoritarian power-grab, one that often led to the oppression and deaths of tens of millions of people.
This is no different. With the Internet readily available in most nations, and the still imperfect but improved state of X, the world is seeing the Left's mask slip in real time. We see how the U.K. covered up sex abuse at the hands of "Asian grooming gangs" (read: Muslims). We see how Canada suppressed the trucker rally and uses Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) to euthanize a bunch of inconvenient people. And in Australia, we see how the toxic empathy and gun control laws led to the massacre of Jews on Bondi Beach late last year.
Make no mistake: the Leftists in those nations are fine with those atrocities. They believe that allowing them is creating a tolerant, diverse, and less Western world. What they don't like is that the hoi polloi aren't on board with the destruction of our way of life, the silencing of our criticisms, and the abuse of our women, girls, and gays by hordes of Islamists. They don't like that we can question their motives, don't like that we can expose their hypocrisy and tyranny, and don't like that we can speak freely with one another to realize just how authoritarian and dictatorial many of them are.
Here, we all saw the videos out of Minnesota of Renee Good blocking ICE agents in Minneapolis, and then her bad decision to try and mow down an ICE agent that ended with Good dead. The Left has repeatedly said the agent "murdered" a good person and has spread lie after lie about her simply being a mom dropping her kid off at school, a scared woman trying to flee police, and an innocent victim. Those are all lies. Those are all actual disinformation. And the constant labeling of ICE as the Gestapo amounts to the Left's definition of "hate speech."
But it's (D)ifferent when they do it. And that's the world they want. Without X, we'd have never known what happened in Minneapolis. The narrative would rule and the Left is desperate to regain control of not just of what we say, but what we think, see, and hear, too.
Words don't hurt, but the truth does.
Which is why the Left is desperate to silence us. Don't let them. Get louder and speak out more. Let them know that they work for us, and we will not be oppressed because their feelings got hurt for being labeled the fascists that they are.
