Every once in a while, I'm reminded that I need to get on my knees and give thanks for the Constitution in general and the First Amendment in particular. It's why I have this job that I love, and why I'm free to say what's on my mind — and if you know me in real life, you know I'm not shy about doing that.
Today is one of those days where I'm beyond grateful I was born in the good old U.S. of A. because no other place on Earth has it as good as we do, even with our country's flaws.
After the horrific terrorist attack on Bondi Beach, the Australian government reacted as all tyrants do: they punish the innocent while absolving the guilty. That's because Australia is run by Leftists who believe being "racist" and "Islamophobic" (which isn't a real thing) are worse offenses than gunning down a ten-year-old Jewish girl celebrating Hanukkah. Instead of removing the Islamists from their nation, the government decided to ban guns even harder and crack down on "hate speech."
Those "hate speech" laws won't apply to the Islamists who believe in globalizing the intifada and hate the Jews, of course. They'll apply to the Aussies who notice their government has imported a horde of backwards, Third World troglodytes who not only don't hold Western values, but openly and proudly hate Western values. In Germany, an imam lamented that it was still illegal to stone women for adultery, but he promised that would change as soon as he and his fellow Muslims took over and implemented Sharia law. Here, I'd like to remind women that simply being raped is considered adultery under Islamic law, unless you can find at least three men to testify on your behalf. And then I look at the U.K. — which now has the world's highest per-capita rate of reported rapes — and I realize that's a lot of stoning that will happen.
I am, of course, horrified by this. I wish the Left, who claim to care about women, were.

But I digress. Let me return to the idea of free speech, because these two things — Islamism and free speech — are closely linked. An Australian politician proudly crowed that his country doesn't share the same robust speech protections as America because doing so means they couldn't have a "multicultural country."

During his press conference, Premier Chris Minns addressed his colleagues who wanted to remove speech restrictions.
Listen to what Minns says, because it's revealing.
"There's been some that have been agitating in the Parliament to nullify the laws, to remove them off the statute books," Minns says. "Think about what kind of toxic message that would send to the New South Wales community."
"And I think the advocates for those changes," Minns continued, "need to explain what do they want people to have the right to say? What kind of racist abuse do they want to see or be able to lawfully see on the streets of Sydney?"
Holy hell.
That Minns thinks free speech immediately devolves into "racist abuse" says a lot about his state of mind, and none of it is good.
Minns continues, "I recognize and I fully said from the beginning that we don't have the same freedom of speech laws that they have in the United States. And the reason for that is we want to hold together a multi-cultural community and have people live in peace free from the vilification and hatred that we do see around the world."
As I said, Minns — like his fellow global Leftists — believes "racism" and "Islamophobia" are horrible crimes, and he classifies pointing out the fact that Islamic terrorists just killed 15 Jews on Bondi Beach as "hatred" and "vilification." It's neither of those things, of course.
It's recognizing that Islam, writ large, is a violent sociopolitical ideology hellbent on destroying and conquering the West. And guys like Minns want it to happen.
Thank God I have the right to tell Minns he's wrong and dangerous, and that I can use my First Amendment rights to point out Islam is a threat to my way of life and should be banned in America and every other Western nation.
Because if the price we have to pay for free speech is not living in a "multicultural society," that's a check I'll gladly write.
