The Democrats’ Disgusting New Narrative

AP Photo/Kevin Wolf

The Democrats are desperate for a narrative, any narrative, to use against President Trump. There are sane, reasonable avenues through which they could do that, of course, but Democrats don't seem keen on taking the sane route on anything.

Instead, they've decided to go all-in on accusing President Trump of being a pedophile and of Republicans in Congress of protecting him.

On November 1, Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-14) said the House Committee on Agriculture was "protecting a pedophile" after their X account noted that Swalwell voted against a bill to fund the government and SNAP.

That's not a lie, of course. Swalwell's vote on the bill is on the Congressional record and he was a "nay" vote.

Yesterday, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), said President Trump and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson were running a "pedophile protection program."

"Well, the Trump administration and Mike Johnson are running a pedophile protection program. That's what they've been doing," Jeffries said. He was arguing that the House being out of session was meant to block Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva from taking her seat.

Of course, the House is not in session because Democrats refuse to pass a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) that would open the government. They want to drag out the Schumer Shutdown for as long as possible to use American's suffering as political leverage.

Despite the facts of the case, Jeffries continued, "She was elected in late September, decisively. And Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva still hasn't been sworn in because she'll become the 218th vote on an up-or-down piece of legislation that will require the Department of Justice to release the Epstein files."

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call "deflection." Jeffries knows the public is blaming Democrats for the Schumer Shutdown, which now includes hours-long delays at airports. So rather than hold his colleagues' feet to the fire and urge them to reopen the government, Jeffries pivots to this.

First and foremost: these accusations are libel. And because Swalwell and Jeffries did not make such outrageous claims on the floor of the House, they are not protected by Congressional immunity. President Trump and Speaker Johnson, as well as members of the House Agriculture Committee, should sue both for libel. And they should refuse to settle.

More than that, if there was anything incriminating in the Epstein files, there is no world in which the Biden administration wouldn't have used that to their advantage. They made it very clear they were willing to stop at nothing to prevent President Trump from being reelected last year. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg even elevated to felonies all the charges against President Trump in that sham hush-money trial. It defies all logic that the Democrats wouldn't have blown the Epstein files wide open if they thought it would damage President Trump.

But I also want to address something even more serious and profoundly disturbing about all of this: it's very hard to take Democrats like Swalwell and Jeffries seriously on this when you look at their records and the records of the Democratic Party.

It was Democrats, including Sen. Chris Van Hollen (MD), who went to the mattresses for illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Among his many crimes, he was accused of soliciting child pornography. Jocelyn Nungaray was 12 years old when she was sexually assaulted and killed by illegal immigrants. Gabriel Julio Velazquez Lopez was deported earlier this year after being arrested by ICE in Houston; he had been convicted of sexual assault of a child and assault with intent to rape a minor. ICE arrested Roberto Antonio Caballero-Garcia in May; he had prior convictions in Dallas County, Texas, for three counts of sexual assault of a child. In Minnesota, Humberto Us-Juarez was arrested last month; had prior convictions for molestation of a minor and aggravated felony sexual assault.

Not one Democrat has uttered a word of condemnation for this actual child abuse.

In the same vein, Democrats continually fight for the "right" of men like Virginia's Richard Cox to use female locker rooms. Cox, a convicted sex offender, had children's swim class schedules on his phone and frequented locker rooms in both Fairfax and Arlington Counties. An Arlington County school board member sided with Cox and lamented his experience with "transphobic statements". Cox was repeatedly accused of exposing and touching himself in front of women and girls. Thankfully, Cox was finally arrested in Arlington on charges of indecent liberties with children, indecent exposure, child pornography possession, and sex offender proximity violations. In Washington, the state Bureau of Prisons was just ordered to provide convicted pedophile Brian Buckingham, who was accused of sexually abusing his own son, with laser hair removal. See, Buckingham — like Cox — is trans and, therefore, gets special treatment.

But I don't hear a single Democrat condemning this, either.

Child abuse is a serious thing, and false accusations of child abuse can — and have — ruined lives. Swalwell and Jeffries know this, which is why they're saying President Trump and other Republicans are "protecting pedophiles" despite providing no evidence for these claims. Instead, they're using these accusations and the severity behind them to score political points.

Just like their accusations of "racism" and "homophobia," Democrats are diminishing the seriousness of child abuse by using it as a political cudgel against Trump while turning a blind eye to (or even supporting) policies that have caused and will continue to cause the actual abuse of children.

It's disgusting and inexcusable, but also completely on brand for the desperate Democratic Party.
