A "phobia" is defined as an "extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something." The key words there are "extreme" and "irrational."
To that end, arachnophobia exists because I live with it. Ask my children how I behave in the presence of a spider. So too does agoraphobia, the fear of crowded spaces, leaving one's home, or being in places where "escape is difficult." It is a mental illness that requires treatment to manage.
The Left has tried to shame people into objecting to their agenda by labeling dissenters as "phobics."
When someone claims they are the victim of "Islamophobia," they are, like all communists, using jargon once reserved for psychology to undermine their political opponents as mentally ill, so they can either imprison them or dismiss their concerns as the ramblings of a crazy person.
Which is exactly what Zohran Mamdani is trying to do.

The crocodile tears are the *chef's kiss* on this, too.
Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, stood outside a mosque Friday and slammed independent candidate Andrew Cuomo for laughing at the suggestion Mamdani would cheer a terror attack.
...
Flanked by a crowd that included women wearing hijabs, Mamdani teared up as he talked about family members facing anti-Muslim prejudice growing up in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Mamdani, the wealthy child of Ugandan parents, is not a victim of anything, least of all "Islamophobia." He is an avowed Democratic Socialist, however, and one poised to run the Big Apple (right into the ground, that is).
As to his aunt and the NYC subway, I’ll note that nearly 3,000 New Yorkers stopped using it on 9/11/2001. Thanks to the jihadis Mamdani pals around with. And Mamdani says nothing about any of them.
He's mad that his opponent, Andrew Cuomo, and others have pointed out his troublesome ties to the unindicted co-conspirator of the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing, Imam Siraj Wahhaj. Wahhaj also holds mainstream Islamic views on the gay community, calling homosexuality a "disease of society." Mamdani is also buddies with a high-ranking Ugandan politician who sought to imprison gays for life.
I suppose that's a step up from hurling them off buildings.
Around the globe, Muslims and radical Islam cause problems. In parts of Africa, they are slaughtering Christians wholesale and burning churches to the ground. In the U.K., Islamic grooming gangs have assaulted countless girls, and the number of reported rapes has climbed from 16,000 in 2012 to 70,000+ in 2024. A Muslim terrorist literally named Jihad killed two Jews outside a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur. You can't mention bacon in public because British police will arrest you for offending Muslims, and you can't hold a protest to call for the mass deportation of the cultural usurpers because that would be "racist."
Girls and women in Afghanistan are second-class citizens, prohibited from being seen from the windows of their own homes, barred from making noise in public, banned from attending school, and denied access to medical care. It's an affront to basic human rights.
In Dearborn, the Muslim mayor attacked a citizen who objected to renaming a street after a terrorist, telling the U.S. citizen, "You’re an Islamophobe. And although you live here, I want you to know as mayor you are not welcome here. The day you move out of the city will be the day I launch a parade celebrating the fact that you moved out of the city." Residents of the city are also dealing with a mosque's 5:30 am call to prayer.
It is clear that Muslims are being sent throughout the Western world to overtake and undermine Western Civilization and usher in the global caliphate they've longed for since the days of Muhammad.
But Islamophobia does not exist. There is not a human being alive who has an irrational fear of Islam. Quite the contrary – possessing a fear of a backwards, oppressive, violent political movement masquerading as a religion is perfectly rational.
It's not "phobic" to wonder about your safety and legal status under a Muslim mayor.
And New Yorkers have a right to question whether or not Mamdani would embrace the destruction Islam has wrought across the globe in their city. At a minimum, Jews, women, and gays in the Big Apple have a right to know whether or not they're about to become second-class citizens in their own home.
