Stimulus Numbers

Boatloads of information is coming in about the final version of the stimulus bill. Here is what I'd like to pass on:

-Only 5.9%, or $47 billion, of the entire bill's spending is allocated for infrastructure projects. 3.5 percent of that is devoted to highway construction.

When Democrats say they have included $150 billion for infrastructure they are including the funding earmarked to renovate federal buildings.

-The $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts remains in the bill, as does the $2 billion for the Neighborhood Stabilization Fund, a pile of money ACORN would be able to apply to the government to get.

-$15 million to preserve historically black colleges and universities.

-$170 million for climate change research and another $400 million for NASA to conduct climate change research.

-$650 million for digital TV coupons.
