As Townhall has highlighted many times before, Border Patrol agents keep capturing previously removed sex offenders. Every apprehension proves the need for effective border security to protect the public.

Now another press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection details the capture of two more previously deported individuals. The two Mexican men were both apprehended on Sunday and discovered to be previously deported sex offenders.

“Record checks revealed Casiano-Ayala was charged with sexual conduct with a minor by Wasatch County, Utah, sentenced to 60 days incarceration and ordered to register as a sex offender in the state of Utah,” according to CBP.

While agents caught Casiano-Ayala Sunday morning, they caught Alejandro Diaz-Marcelo that afternoon and discovered that he was also a previously deported sex offender.

“Record checks revealed Diaz-Marcelo was convicted of indecent sexual contact by Maricopa County, Arizona, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation,” CBP said.

The capture of previously deported sex offenders represents an ongoing issue. Earlier this month on December 4 agents caught a man who had been previously “convicted of sexual assault of a minor under 13” and another man “convicted of Indecent Assault on a Person Less Than 13 Years of Age.”

“For Fiscal Year 2020 to date—October through November—Border Patrol agents encountered 571 aliens with prior criminal convictions,” according to a tweet from USBP Chief Carla Provost. “Border Patrol agents also encountered 555 criminal aliens with outstanding wants or warrants,” the tweet notes.
