The Cornell Seven case has been all the rage over the past few days. From cringe videos from performative guys talking about how they’d handle those involved to TikToks of moms “educating” their young boys, there’s been a ton of virtue signaling surrounding the case.
Remember when everyone was up in arms about banning TikTok in 2020?

Where would we be without this? pic.twitter.com/BGLfHGezcn
This genre of white knight, pick-me, performative video has to be one of my least favorites on the internet.

Not to mention these videos are usually made with the intent of courting approval from women in order to woo them, truly sick stuff if you think about it. pic.twitter.com/ftGJ9nMlnQ

In a surprise to no one, New York’s Democrat governor Kathy Hochul has swooped in to take first prize for virtue signaler-in-chief by announcing her new plan to combat sexual assault: asking the legislature to close the “voluntary intoxication loop.”
Choosing to have a drink is not consent, and it’s never a license for sexual assault.
— Governor Kathy Hochul (@GovKathyHochul) October 2, 2026
New York law should reflect that.
I support closing the voluntary intoxication loophole and will work with the Legislature to get it done.
So what’s that supposed to look like in practice, Kathy? Are two people who have some drinks before sleeping together now in danger of being considered rapists? Is it just a single person in that interaction? If so, which person is it? Based on her liberal sensibilities, I can only assume that the man is at fault by default. That would seem to indicate that she believes that women have no agency.
This simple thought exercise barely scratches the surface of the problems that can arise from such an awful idea.
I try to live as a devout Catholic. It’s not as if I support intoxication or sexual intercourse outside of the confines of marriage in the first place. As much as I detest how prominent these actions are in our society, they are realities of the world that we live in. Call me crazy, but I don’t think that millions of Americans should be labeled by the government as sex offenders because they had a drunken hook-up.
As if this absurd proposal wasn’t enough, Hochul has appointed the preeminently-stupid Leticia James to oversee this case because local prosecutors refuse to touch it. James, in her impressive level of stupidity, has already publicly judged the alleged offenders as guilty (which she refuses to comment on now). It’s hard to see this being handled with any sort of competency should this head to trial.
Reporter: "Attorney General, on your Facebook page three days ago, you wrote, ‘What this young woman has been forced to endure is horrific and unacceptable. I'm holding her in my heart and in my prayers. To her and to all survivors, you're not alone. We stand with you.’ Why did… pic.twitter.com/AtHcuaPumE

As much as I’d like to wish New York good luck with this fiasco, they’ve dug their own graves here. Have fun lying in them.
