Effort to Recall Soros-Back Prosecutor Receives Over 11,000 Signatures

An effort to recall Fairfax County prosecutor Steve Descano has amassed 11,625 signatures, according to a report from the Washington Times.

Descano, a Soros-backed prosecutor, is under fire from Cheryl Minter, the mother of a Stephanie Minter, who was stabbed to death by an illegal immigrant who had been arrested over 30 times for multiple violent offenses.

“This was not an unavoidable tragedy. It was the predictable consequence of decisions made by Descano,” Minter said. “Stephanie’s case is not an isolated failure. Under Descano’s leadership, Fairfax County has repeatedly seen dangerous offenders released, despite serious charges and lengthy criminal histories, while public safety took a back seat.” 

Descano is under scrutiny for another lax-on-crime move last month as he allowed a man arrested for murdering his landlord to have a 48-hour pass to leave the custody of a state mental hospital. Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda, the perpetrator of the crime, had been found not guilty by reason of insanity. Authorities say that he is now residing in Tajikistan.

The bad news for Descano doesn’t end there, however. Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee also claim that Descano has withheld information regarding his alleged preferential treatment of illegal aliens.

“Your July 2 and July 24 responses to the Committee alleged, incorrectly, that the Committee’s requests were 'based on a misunderstanding' of your office’s prosecution policies and claimed that the Committee lacks oversight authority over your office’s pro-criminal alien policies,” a letter to Descano’s office said. "We reject those arguments and assertions and reiterate our requests for your cooperation."

House Republicans warn that failure to abide by the request could result in a compulsory process.
