Then, he’s set to meet with New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani later in the day, followed by French President Emmanuel Macron. It’s unclear what the president and Mamdani are expected to discuss, but the two have previously met at the White House in November before the socialist mayor took office.

On Tuesday, the president will then address the United Nations, and he’s also expected to have conversations with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, as well as Delcy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela. 

The meeting with Rodriguez comes after the U.S. recently made an oil deal with the South American nation, which continues to be under hefty oversight from the U.S. government after the capture of Nicolas Maduro. In recent days, Venezuelan opposition leader  María Corina Machado and Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) have expressed that they want to see a July 24, 2027 election date in the country, which is also historical Venezuelan leader Simón Bolívar's birthday. 

“Free and fair elections remain essential to complete the democratic transition, and under President Trump’s strong leadership we’ll get there. I’m proposing July 24, 2027, let’s go!” Moreno posted to X on Sunday.

Trump said earlier this month that he does not believe “they're ready yet” for an election, calling the current situation “very new.” 

“Delcy wants it, but they're not ready yet,” he added, according to NBC 6 South Florida. 

The president is also slated to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while at UNGA, as Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday the “ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine must be ended.”

Trump deployed special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to meet with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky separately earlier this month. However, leaders in European nations like Poland are expressing concerns that Putin might escalate the war by striking Ukrainian allies in the region.

“We are ready to work on this, and we will discuss it with our partners on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York,” Zelensky posted to X on Monday. “I thank everyone who is helping! It will no longer be the case that only the country under attack suffers. The nature of war is now such that the aggressor will suffer as well.”

When the president returns to Washington, Chinese President Xi Jinping will make his first visit back to the U.S. in over a decade. Many topics could be on the table, including the AI race and national security.

On Thursday night, First Lady Melania Trump is hosting a State Dinner honoring the visit, and it is expected to include big names in technology, including Elon Musk, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, Tim Cook, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, according to American officials on a Friday evening call with reporters.

The president and the First Lady will join Jinping, along with Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan, for a National Archives tour on Friday before the Chinese leader departs from the U.S.
