After killing 100 million people in the 20th century and relegating hundreds of millions more to lives of abject poverty and oppression, the American Left insists we have to give socialism and communism (two sides of the same ideological coin) another chance.

"Real socialism has never been tried!" they write from their $2,000 MacBooks as they sip $6 lattes from Starbucks.

Yes it has been, repeatedly. Every single nation that enacts socialist policies is trying "real socialism," and it always fails. Most of the time, it's tragic. The loss of life, the loss of freedom, and the loss of wealth are unforgivable. We've seen the havoc socialism and communism have wrought in Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, America — where capitalism has been crippled by socialists — has done things like create flying cars and has so much money we can lose $9 billion into fraud in Minnesota and not bat an eye.

But sometimes, the fall of socialism is downright funny, as what happened to this restaurant in Minneapolis.

Modern Times, a restaurant with no prices, was trying to prove socialism works. They've failed and are closing their doors. This came after ICE raids in Minneapolis, and owner Dylan Alverson decided to rebrand the place "Post Modern Times" and do away with prices.

This bit from The Star Tribune is just the chef's kiss of socialism:

Neighbors began to be crowded out of the restaurant by people who could not pay and who lingered around the restaurant all day. Complaints mounted of open drug use, theft, discarded needles in the alley and overdoses on the sidewalk.

After a series of contentious community meetings, Alverson closed the restaurant in July for a few weeks, then reopened in August with prices back on the menu.

Gee, doesn't that sound like what Democrats have done in cities across our country? That's not a coincidence. And it's the inevitable outcome of socialism every single time it's tried: malaise, crime, degeneracy, overrun decent neighborhoods and drive out the good people who make our restaurants, other businesses, and our communities run.

But the Left loathes those good people. They loathe the taxpayers, they loathe the law-abiding. They loathe everyone and anyone who actually contributes to society and instead channel their sympathy and compassion to the absolute dregs of society, which is why they love socialism so much.

It's an ideology developed by a guy who was so lazy even his own father called him out for his mooching.

The statement, which looks like it was posted on Instagram, reads:

For the last six years, I've been trying to prove that Modern Times can continue to exist. I've exhausted every option without compromising the core fundamentals that make Modern Times what it is.

As Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that you run out of other people's money." That's the lesson that Alverson failed to learn.

People are inherently greedy, and when they're discouraged and disincentivized from working hard and being generous — as socialism always does — that greed becomes compounded. And Alverson was trying real socialism.

It failed. Again. And this time on a small scale.

Imagine how bad it would be if this was America's national policy.
