As we all know, Abdul El-Sayed is a liar. While he has a doctoral degree, he is not a physician — despite numerous claims that he is one, including his claim that he diagnosed patients and discussed treatments with them. It's a lie. He's never been licensed in New York or Michigan, and the closest he's come was a clinical at the end of med school that even he described as "cosplaying doctor." I've treated more patients as a licensed RN than he has. Heck, as a hospice RN, I even pronounced people dead.
El-Sayed cannot say the same. At least not truthfully.
But the media's lack of curiosity into his lies (which are a violation of Michigan and New York state law, by the way) is as glaring as it is unsurprising. What's even more fascinating is when the so-called "paper of record," the New York Times, decides to use the title "doctor."
For El-Sayed, he's constantly "Dr. Abdul El-Sayed." But when talking about Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, the NYT routinely refers to him as "Mr. Carson."
Perhaps there are reasons of style policy involved, but reading New York Times coverage of Dr. El-Sayed, and remembering Times 2016 coverage of renowned brain surgeon Ben Carson makes you wonder: Did Carson ever get an MD? pic.twitter.com/E5Ol6LV8Fx

Fascinating, no?
So I did a little digging. And it turns out the NYT had no problem referring to former First Lady Jill Biden as "doctor" too.
Here are some times @nytimes @NYTimesPR referred to Jill Biden as “Dr.” too. https://t.co/z3fe9oCXAr pic.twitter.com/dNkd9DWIuD

Again, she has her doctorate, but it's a doctorate of education. Only people with massive egos — or their media sycophants — would attempt to use that meaningless title as a way to give Jill Biden, the world's worst wife and person, more authority than she already has.
And if you read Biden's dissertation, you'll see there's not much substance behind that title. It's as vapid and meaningless as she is.
Lest you think this is a racial thing (because we all know how the Left feels about black conservatives like Dr. Carson), it's not. They omit the title for Sen. Rand Paul, too, and he's an actual doctor, an ophthalmologist.
Oh, and Dr. Rand Paul. https://t.co/8aLFwWXFT1 pic.twitter.com/Zdxc3xEuQe

Dr. Paul practiced ophthalmology for 17 years in Bowling Green, Kentucky, specializing in cataract and glaucoma surgeries, LASIK procedures, and corneal transplants. He even did pro-bono surgeries and other volunteering. That gives him a leg up on both Biden and El-Sayed, and yet the NYT refers to him as "Mr. Paul."
Hello @NYTimesPR Anyone home?

Can you explain why the NYT calls Dr. Ben Carson a Mr. and why you call unlicensed Abdul el-Sayed a Dr?
I know you have a style book, but why don’t you follow it? https://t.co/SAbHde1NC2
We all know why.
Democrats good, Republicans bad. Giving El-Sayed a title he has not earned and is not entitled to is an effort by the NYT to give him more moral authority than he has and more respect than he deserves. They want to help El-Sayed's Medicare for All scheme by making it seem like a medical professional endorses the plan. It's transparent partisan politics and media bias.
By slighting Drs. Carson and Paul, they're diminishing their achievements, the respect they deserve, and their expertise. It's underhanded and hypocritical, but completely on brand.
At the end of the day, the only style book the NYT follows is: Help Democrats in any way we can.
