Iowa Republican Zach Lahn, who is running to replace current Gov. Kim Reynolds, just dropped an ad on his Democrat opponent Rob Sand, warning Iowans that billionaire Sand would raise taxes astronomically for the average family.
"On our farm here in Belle Plaine, we see it every day," Lahn says in the ad. "Gas, groceries, everything's expensive. Iowa families are hurting but Rob Sand wants to raise your taxes by $7,500 year. You can look it up. He is a billionaire. He doesn't get what regular folks go through. He opposed tax cuts his whole career."
"I'm going to do everything in my power to help Iowa families as governor," Lahn continued. "Because I know how hard you work. Iowa first."

Rob Sand has spent his career arguing the middle class should pay more in taxes, meanwhile Sand has worked tirelessly to hide the fact he enjoys a wealth most Iowans would find unimaginable. He married into the Lauridsen Group, Inc. (LGI), one of the state's largest private fortunes. Valuations of LGI, owned by Sand's father-in-law, puts the Sand family among the richest of the rich, and Sand's family has bankrolled his campaigns, spending $13 million, the most in Iowa history.
Sand supporters try to lie and spin the reality of Sand's wealth, of course. Lahn called that a "delusional take."

"It's easy for Rob Sand to oppose tax cuts for families when another man is paying his bills. His entire lifestyle and political career have both been financed by this father-in-law's chemical fortune," said Lahn campaign spokesman Dan Capodilupo.
