There is a lot on the line in November's election. Nationally, the House and Senate are up for grabs, and if the Democrats take control, they've made it very clear they intend to enact policies that will keep them in power. From packing the Supreme Court to adding D.C. and Puerto Rico as blue states to weaponizing the government against Republicans and their voters, it will get ugly.
But all politics is local, and we cannot stop the big tyrannies if we don't stop the small ones. In Wisconsin, that means making sure Francesca Hong is not our next governor. The Democrats clearly fear her candidacy because they believe she'll lose the general election.
I agree with them.
But we cannot allow ourselves to get complacent. Hong will destroy this state if she wins, and she's following the same playbook Abigail Spanberger did in Virginia: run as a moderate, govern like the radical leftist you are.
Hong will abolish the police and prisons. Sure, she says she can't do that as governor, but if a Democrat-controlled state legislature sends such legislation to her desk, she'd sign it. So she can, in fact, do that as governor. In January of this year, Hong completed a questionnaire that reaffirmed her commitment to abolishing both the police and prisons.

If you watch interviews with Hong, she likes to use the term "public safety." That's deliberate. Much like the Left changed "global warming" to "climate change"—a much broader, blanket term for all weather—Hong calls her plan "public safety" to encompass the socialist agenda.
See, socialists believe that if they give people free stuff like housing, education, childcare, and food, they won't commit crimes. No one has raped or murdered because they didn't have government-subsidized daycare. They murder because they are violent monsters with no impulse control. They rape because it's a form of power. Even theft isn't driven by want or deprivation. They're greedy and lazy and believe they're entitled to whatever it is they happen to pilfer.
She has repeatedly said "data" shows that these social programs stop crime. They, in fact, do not. Putting criminals behind bars and disincentivizing crime lower crime rates and improve public safety.
Even CNN hammered her on this.

"My values are making sure public safety is for everyone," is socialist speak for "the criminals will run free, and you will pay for their free s**t while they terrorize your communities."
Hong inspired the Madison autonomous zone by calling the shooting of Corey Ruiz an "execution" before any investigation had been completed. She defended it by saying it was people "grieving the loss of life."

She's also said police exist to "uphold white supremacy."

But Hong will argue, with a straight face, that if we just spend billions in taxpayer dollars (and lose billions to fraud), all the naughty behavior will stop. When it doesn't, she will insist on more tax increases.
And if you think it's just for the wealthy, think again. One of her supporters said the middle class needs to pay their "fair share" as well.

Voters need to know this, of course, but Republicans must tread carefully on addressing this lest they make Hong seem sympathetic instead of what she really is: crazy. Despite all this, Democrats will still rally behind her once she's the nominee.
To counteract this, Tom Tiffany and Republicans must run a strong campaign that shows they are leaders committed to stopping crime, lowering taxes, protecting school choice, and improving our public schools. They must be disciplined, focused on the message, and willing to fight. That is how to beat Hong.
And we must beat her. Do not assume this race is in the bag.
