It was quite an eventful first night for the Republican National Convention, with speeches from Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
A collection of "everyday Americans" delivered their first-hand accounts of struggle in Biden's America.
Sean O'Brien became the first Teamsters' president to address the RNC in its 121-year history. It was a full-throated defense for workers of America.
Trump was officially nominated earlier this afternoon. Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) was chosen as Trump's running mate.
That's all from us tonight. Join us tomorrow for more coverage of the RNC and the 2024 election.

That was an awesome benediction, very Catholic sounding, which I love!
THE PASTOR WITH A TRUMP IMPRESSION!!!!
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley is back on stage to introduce the pastor delivering tonight's benediction.
That speech. absolute cinema
This was a tremendous choice for the closing speaker. O'Brien is burning it down with hit after hit on out-of-touch elites, the swamp, and the way D.C. has forgotten the working men and women of the country who truly keep America running.
Biden has been losing what little support he has among union members. During the first presidential debate, Biden lied about the U.S. Border Patrol union endorsing him. "The border patrolmen endorsed me," Biden falsely claimed. They did not, and they "never will," rebutted the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), the union that represents over 18,000 U.S. Border Patrol agents.
O'Brien's speech is putting a finer point on the idea that 2024 will be a realignment election where, thanks to Trump and other Republicans, the GOP is officially the party of American workers. Full stop.
Remember when Biden, the "most pro-union president in American history" forced a contract on rail workers that union members had rejected?
That clearly didn't play well with unions, nor did it age well given tonight's address from O'Brien.
As for the DNC, they have yet to commit to a speaking slot, Sean O'Brien told The Boston Globe, so he accepted the GOP's invitation. Not a good look for "Union Joe."
This is a Teamsters endorsement
C'mon!
O'Brien on Trump after the attempt on his life: "He has proven to be one tough SOB."
"President Trump had the backbone to open the doors to this Republican convention and that's unprecedented," says O'Brien.
"The Left called me a traitor," O'Brien recounts of the blowback to Trump's invitation for him to speak at the RNC.
O'Brien notes that he's the first Teamster to address the RNC in more than 100 years. Wow.
Teamsters boss Sean O'Brien is the last scheduled speaker on night one. We'll see if there are any surprises after him...
I can imagine it actually is not very easy to admit this in such a room, as she herself mentioned. That being said, how many people like her will help decide the election in November, in a way that goes in Trump's direction this time.
FINALLY the Teamsters are here.
Fornos admits that she voted Democrat in 2020.
Wake up and smell the Covfeve?
Another "Everyday American," Linda Fornos – a mother and life insurance industry worker — up now. She's a legal immigrant from Nicaragua residing in the Las Vegas area.
Linda is a single mother of three children. She has sorely felt the impact of inflation under the Biden-Harris administration, especially as she works to rebuild her life after she lost nearly everything when her home burnt down in 2022.
NO! NO! bring her the hell back ... we need to see what's tattooed on her forehead.
Also, what a speech by Rose
What's on her forehead?
"And you know in your heart it was not like this under Donald Trump," Rose says. You can hear someone in the audience say "that's right!"
Amber Rose: "The left told me to hate Trump, and even worse, to hate the other side — the people who support him."
"When you fill up your gas tank, you're pissed," says Amber Rose. "I know I am."
"You know it was not like this under Donald Trump."
Amber Rose on meeting Trump for the first time: "He was funny as hell."
AMBER ROSE: "I never felt more free, and more love for my country, than I do now."
