A former teacher, Zoltán Kész was the director of the Free Market Foundation when he entered politics in 2015. He won a by-election as an independent, breaking the two-thirds majority of the governing party in February, 2015. He was in Parliament and remained an independent until 2018. After politics, he returned to the think-tank world as the Director of Operations at Civitas Institute in Hungary. Since 2022, he has been working as Government Affairs Manager at the Consumer Choice Center.
