Biden Finally Builds a Wall, but Not For America

It appears that Joe Biden has had a change of heart when it comes to the effectiveness of walls, but not when it comes to protecting America’s national security.

Biden is building a $500,000 wall to protect his beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, while continuing to ignore the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Despite having an estimated net worth of roughly $9 million, Biden is having the taxpayers pick up the tab for his wall, which is being financed by the Department of Homeland Security.

On his first day in office, Biden immediately ordered a halt to wall construction along the southern border, claiming that a wall was “not a serious policy solution” to the nation’s immigration crisis. Since then, nearly five million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border, according to a study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform. Biden has long denied the efficacy of a wall to protect our nation’s borders, but now will enjoy his beach house from the safety of a taxpayer-funded wall. It is rank hypocrisy, but far from the first we’ve seen from an anti-borders politician.

In early 2021, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi erected a massive wall in front of the Capitol building in order to protect it from purported threats. Pelosi infamously shut down the government for over a month after Democrats took control of Congress in the 2018 midterms, in order to deny then-President Donald Trump funding for a border wall. Of course, our political leaders, and the buildings in which they congregate deserve high-level protection, but so do regular Americans. The immigration crisis has caused massive property damage, safety threats and reduction in quality of life for Americans living near the border. Those people have been begging the Biden Administration for help, to no avail.

One Texas attorney who lives near the border told Fox News last year that he sustained $60,000 in property damage from illegal aliens at his ranch.

"Us Americans, in this part of Texas, we don't have the same rights as other people do," the rancher Brent Smith said.  "We can't enjoy our property and go in our backyards anymore at night. It's a tragedy."

If the Joe Bidens and Nancy Pelosis of the world get to live and work behind the protection of a physical barrier, why can’t the Brent Smiths of the world get the same?

America is not supposed to be a feudalistic system with serfs on one side and nobles on the other, but that’s exactly what the country has become under Biden’s failed leadership. In Joe Biden’s America, our nation’s elites are protected behind walls in their beach houses and mansions, while leaving the rest of the country to fend for themselves. The federal government has a constitutional responsibility to secure the border and keep the American people safe. This is supposed to be the main function of the U.S. government. Yet, Biden has been willfully derelict in his duty since day one of his presidency, with devastating costs.

In addition to the nearly five million illegal aliens who have crossed the border since Biden took office, deaths from fentanyl overdoses have skyrocketed as well. More than ten times the number of Americans died from synthetic opioids, mainly fentanyl, in 2021 than did just six years earlier in 2015, according to Fox News. The lethal drug, which is mainly imported through the southern border, is now the leading cause of death for young Americans. Many of these deaths could be prevented with a secure border.

Biden knows that walls work, but refuses to build one where we need it most, and at the cost of American lives. Biden is entitled to the protection a wall provides, but so are the rest of us. His decision to build a wall for himself while ignoring the carnage at our border is an insult to the American people.
