What the Left Really Thinks About Immigrants and Minorities

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

If the left is good at anything, it’s lying. How else could the party of the Ku Klux Klan come to be the party of Black Lives Matter? As Dinesh D’Souza shows us in Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, the left is talking out of both sides of their mouth.

D’Souza’s first example comes from none other than Hillary Clinton herself. In November 2014, shortly after Barack Obama signed an executive order limiting law enforcement from enforcing immigration laws, she attempted to defend him during her speech at New York City’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

“We should all remember,” she said, “that this is about people’s lives. This is about, I would venture to guess, the people who served us tonight, who prepared our food tonight.”

Wait a second. Hillary said this… in 2014. Trump’s comments from decades ago can and would be brought to the forefront, used to condemn him even after an apology, but Hillary gets a free pass on implying all food service workers are illegal immigrants?

This comment is a glaring indication of what she and her comrades think about immigration. Though illegal immigration is indeed wrong, implying that the only people who would work in food service and maybe enjoy their jobs are illegal immigrants is also wrong.

This echoes two key parts of leftist history, two they have long ignored: Margaret Sanger’s racism and Lyndon B. Johnson’s plan to enslave black voters. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was a eugenicist whose work led to the forcible injection of poor blacks with syphilis.

Sanger once told a Women’s Chapter of the Ku Klux Klan of her “Negro Project” to get rid of “human beings who should never have been born” and told the Chapter to hide the fact that “we are trying to exterminate the Negro population.”

It’s a night and day difference on the left now, although not by much: Planned Parenthood still deliberately targets poor minority women in poverty-stricken communities.

Johnson, another hero of the left, was similarly racist. His time in Congress was spent as part of a group that got FDR to block anti-lynching legislation and exclude blacks from his New Deal. His time as President of the United States was no different. Upon signing the Civil Rights Act, which he is often revered for, he declared, “I’ll have them n*ggers voting Democratic for two hundred years.”

This is all horrifying, and it would likely shock many of the millennial idealists who believe voting Democrat is the only way to ensure minority survival. But it’s exactly what the left wants-- a culture where they can keep the immigrant/minority vote to themselves, because “good minorities” side with the people trying to protect them, and (according to them), minorities wouldn’t know what to do with themselves otherwise. To hell with personal responsibility and stopping the cycle of poverty. The left has voting blocs to protect and a racist history to uphold.
