“There’s no way he could have made a 200-yard shot.” “This was a professional hit-job.” “It was a false-flag event.” Blah blah blah.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve read similar claims on the Internet in the last 24 hours, I’d be able to buy a nice dinner for two at the best steak house in town.
Please, SHUT UP! You are demonstrating your ignorance for the whole world to view.
While it’s admirable to be skeptical, all the evidence currently available points to a lone shooter who used a scoped, high-powered rifle to inflict a fatal would on Charlie Kirk via one shot at approximately 200 yards. This is according to the exhaustive work of hundreds of law enforcement officers who have spent the last 36 hours sleeplessly investigating this horrible event. To believe the conspiracies would be to take the stance that every one of these people are in on it, including many close to Charlie.
For the amateur Internet gun experts, a 200-yard shot with a scoped rifle from a prone stance in an elevated position against a resting target is easy for anyone with a modicum of experience or training. It’s a chip shot.
When I was a young recruit in basic training, the standard was to be able to engage targets out to 300 yards with iron sights. After a bit of training, I would guess that upwards of 90% of the recruits qualified with their rifle upon their first round of qualification. Adding a scope increases that effectiveness by a significant multiplication factor.
Without getting into complicated shooting terms like Minute of Angle or parallax, a 200-yard shot is a standard for even the least of recreational shooters. It’s close enough that even if you miss your aim point, you can still inflict a fatal would on your target.

Most hunters zero their rifle at that distance meaning that this is the point of impact where the crosshairs of their scope meet. This is the standard range for most rifle shooters. It is NOT an exceptional shot. An exceptional shot would be over 500 yards unsupported with other complicating factors. At this distance, there is no calculation necessary for bullet drop and due to the nature of the venue, wind was likely not a factor.
Without getting into gory detail, I also believe that the neck was not the assailant’s intended target so it wouldn’t have been a professional shot. A professional would NOT have aimed for the neck. I believe that the assailant was either aiming for the torso and missed high, or more likely, aimed for the head and missed low. Either way, even with a below average shot group at 200 yards, one can be successful which, unfortunately, he was
Why is it so unreasonable that a young person with a modest amount of shooting experience, could crawl up on a roof out of sight of the crowd, take a prone position behind the peak of the roof minimizing his outline, and fire off a single shot at a distance that literally every decent rifle shooter can demonstrate accuracy? When I saw the video, I immediately knew that it was from an elevated position due to the nature of the venue and the exit wound. It makes me sick to even think about it.
I’ve seen scores of photos of young kids who have taken large game animals at 200 yards or greater. It’s not hard.
Are there valid examples of conspiracies that have come true? Yes! But this isn’t one of them. Just stop.
Having first met Charlie over eight years ago when he was in his early twenties, it bothers me deeply to write about this at all. He was a good man. To every idiot on the Internet who conjures up these ridiculous theories, just stop. It is disrespectful to his intellect. It’s disrespectful to his family. Give it a rest. Get off your computer or phone, take off your tinfoil hat, and go breathe some fresh air.
Most of all, do something that Charlie would have wanted. Make a difference. Love your family. Read your Bible. Send a donation to Turning Point. Stand up for what is right. Volunteer in your community. Spend some time in prayer. Make the most of your life. Be the difference in a young person’s life as Charlie was to millions. Take his baton.
To Charlie’s family, may God give you strength and comfort. To Charlie, rest in peace with our eternal Savior, Jesus Christ. Well done thou good and faithful servant. May your legacy live on for generations.
