That Someone Wanted to Kill Justice Kavanaugh Fits The Left's Narrative

Last Wednesday, 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California was arrested near Justice Brett Kavanaugh's house. The suspect told the 911 operator and police that he wanted to kill the U.S. Supreme Court justice because he was angry that the Court looked to overturn Roe v. Wade. He was also worried about how Justice Kavanaugh might rule on gun cases. This alleged crime is deeply disturbing, and it’s made all the more so disturbing because it’s not surprising.

Several other conservative justices have been targeted by protests outside their homes, which keep happening. Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the leaked draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson, was forced to flee his home. In both instances, many on the Left dismissed or laughed off such dangerous situations. Some even condoned or encouraged it. This is who they are. That doesn’t excuse it, though, and good people must call it out. 

On May 8, an update to an article I wrote about protesters showing up to the homes of justices garnered much attention, good and bad. I had covered reports about Justice Alito being forced to flee. Many in the mainstream media tried to discredit me, even smear me, for covering what others had said because it was relevant and newsworthy. These critics were wrong though. Another update from Townhall confirmed as much. 

The reason for doing so was to try to change the narrative, because naysayers wanted to distract from the troubling reality that a mob was trying to influence justices and forced Alito to seek safety elsewhere. 

There were also those dismissing it since it was apparently fitting for the justice to have to leave his home, as he was supposedly not doing his constitutional duty, or was apparently causing women to live in fear. 

When it comes to the plot against Kavanaugh, there are people who are tweeting that it was a false flag, and they have quite the platform when doing so. Some used it as an excuse to still try to make Christine Blasey Ford relevant. Others brought up the GOP’s position on gun control. Some ‘joked’ the GOP would move to ban sidewalks.

Many seek to condone the murder plot, cheering it on, even some wishing it had succeeded.

Twitter is, in a way, complicit by allowing such users to remain free to promote calls to violence with reckless abandon. Meanwhile conservatives are banned for committing the crime of “misgendering,” not just everyday users, but Rep. Jim Banks, Charlie Kirk, Tucker Carlson, as well as the Babylon Bee and its staff.

A massive and widespread cover-up exists on a higher level. The mainstream media buried the murder plot. Some tried to use it as an excuse to discuss how tensions and emotions are high on both sides of the abortion issue. It was not a pro-life activist who sought to murder one of the liberal justices, though. 

The upticks in violence and vandalism have come from radical pro-abortion groups, such as Jane’s Revenge. This group should be declared a domestic terrorist group when it comes to instances of not just vandalism, but firembombing and targeting pro-life organizations with Molotov cocktails, which they have taken credit for. 

The White House did release a statement when the Wisconsin Family Action headquarters was firebombed last month, but it was delayed. There have been no such statements about subsequent crimes. The mainstream media similarly butchered that coverage, and people downplayed, denied, excused, or condoned it.

When it comes to the murder plot against Kavanaugh, President Joe Biden still has yet to address it, even though he could have done so during Wednesday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Biden did say he doesn’t think the country “will stand for” Roe v. Wade being overturned, and he predicted a “mini revolution.” To say Biden was irresponsible with his words is putting it politely. Had Donald Trump said such things, Democrats would have filed for impeachment. 

What we were treated to was a gaslighting statement White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates sent to Fox News. In it, he claimed Biden’s “spokespeople have been forceful about this from the podium” when it comes to how judges must be able to carry out their duties without safety concerns. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre later repeated how “forceful” this White House has been. 

Bates also spent Wednesday going after former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) for them expressing outrage about the White House encouraging protests outside the justices’ homes. 

Jen Psaki, Jean-Pierre’s predecessor, had actually said last month that they “encourage” protests to continue outside the homes of justices. 

Let’s not forget how then Minority Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in 2020 threatened Justices Kavanguh and Neil Gorsuch if they did not vote the way he wanted them to on an abortion decision. “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” he told a cheering crowd.

Justices serve for life. They cannot be impeached for voting a certain way, no matter who likes or doesn’t like it. It is thus not only a disturbing threat, but an unclear one. 

These justices were, fortunately, not intimidated, and cast their votes in favor of a pro-life law, though a majority of the Court did not. It cannot be ignored, though, that such a leading Democrat was inciting violence. 

Schumer more recently said he was just fine with protesters outside justice’s homes, and even laughed and joked about it. 

GOP operative Matt Whitlock pointed out last month that if Justice Sonia Sotomayor had to flee as Justice Alito did, “it would get January 6 level coverage.”

“Sotomayor” and “Justice Sotomayor” were also recently trending as people pointed out how different the news coverage would be should someone have nearly murdered her.

If Justice Sotomayor were forced to flee her home or had been targeted for assasination–which should never happen–without a doubt it would be all over the news and would be swiftly addressed and condemned. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. And it should receive coverage and be condemned when justices are forced to take drastic actions, or when someone plans to murder them, regardless of political ideology. 

I disagree with Justice Sotomayor, but I would never dream that it would be the right idea to protest at her home, or wish her ill, or death upon her. I don’t know anybody who would.

We are better than those on the Left who would diminish, excuse, even condone it or cheer it on when it happens to their political enemies. Don’t be afraid to say as much.
