Have you ever noticed how an awfully large number of scrupulously ethical, conservative Christians end up prosecuted, sued and smeared with innuendos? The left loves to point to these as evidence that MAGA is just as corrupt as their side. They gleefully lump them in with a small handful of really awful people, allegedly on the right, who committed heinous crimes.
The mainstream media frequently runs articles about child molesters interspersed with articles about these conservatives, implying that they are all equally bad. Run articles like this enough and people will start to make the association.
As soon as a Republican runs on a platform of Christian values and patriotism, they become a target. It starts with nonstop ridicule, then escalates to lawsuits and prosecution. Pastors who run for office face some of the worst treatment, labeled “religious zealots,” “evangelical extremists,” and accused of “Christian nationalism.” The latter is a red herring, since Christians who use the phrase mean something different than what the left means. Christians merely believe it to describe returning to the values of our Founding Fathers, who drafted the Constitution based on Christian principles. The left, on the other hand, sneakily pretends it means a Christian theocracy, which none of these pastors ever intends.
Notice that the targeted conservatives always come from the most squeaky clean backgrounds — no criminal history, no scandals. Look at the associates of President Donald Trump targeted with lawfare, such as the top constitutional legal scholar on the right, John Eastman (whose resume is over 100 pages long), and Trump’s DOJ official, Jeffrey Clark.
What is so brutally unfair about this type of targeting is that these conservatives have spent their entire lives on the straight and narrow path; they are the last people who deserve to have their careers, reputations and finances destroyed. All that squeaky clean living for nothing. The left is taking out our best and brightest this way.
Meanwhile, the left indulges in immoral, unethical and lawbreaking behavior, often racking up criminal histories that are mostly ignored by the MSM, with only a few small, buried articles. For example, La Toya Cantrell, the mayor of New Orleans, was indicted this year by a federal grand jury on corruption charges related to misuse of city funds for personal travel and contractor kickbacks. However, she remains in office as the case goes on. Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas was indicted last year for accepting $600,000 from Azerbaijan and a Mexican bank to sway U.S. policy. He, too, remains in office while the case is proceeding. But you’ve probably never heard of either of them.
We all remember Bill Clinton. Independent Counsel Ken Starr accused Clinton of felonies, including perjury, tampering with a witness, concealing evidence and obstruction of justice. But Democrats circled the wagons, and nothing happened to him; Clinton remained the most popular president in years. They turned the focus onto his adultery with Monica Lewinsky instead of the crimes, and Starr’s investigation was portrayed as a witch hunt that went nowhere.
The reality was that Starr’s investigation began when he saw evidence of an unrelated crime while he was looking into the Whitewater scandal. Linda Tripp gave Starr her secretly recorded conversations with Lewinsky, which revealed that Clinton and his advisor Vernon Jordan urged Lewinsky to lie under oath in the Paula Jones lawsuit. Tripp then wore a wire at Starr’s direction, recording Lewinsky discussing getting a job to secure her silence. This had nothing to do with an affair, but squelching Jones’ lawsuit.
Now, if some obscure person with a disreputable background who claims to be on the right says outrageous things, making the right look bad, the left and its comrades in the MSM prop them up and fawn all over them. No one would even know who Nick Fuentes is if he weren’t constantly given coverage by the MSM. The Drudge Report, which compiles articles about politics slanted to the left, had two headlines about Fuentes on Sunday, out of about 20 headlines, tied for second place after Trump with the most headlines.
A long list of the most prominent conservatives have denounced Fuentes, including Sen. Ted Cruz, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Mark Levin, Dinesh D’Souza, Ben Shapiro, as well as articles in the Washington Examiner and Breitbart and an editorial in The New York Post. Fuentes is not a leader in the GOP; he’s a fringe extremist.
Sleep around a lot but claim to be on the right? The left will promote you like crazy. Funnel campaign money to a mistress? You’re now the GOP’s new leader, according to the MSM. Get caught drunk driving? Overnight, you’re the face of the right. The left’s tactics against conservatives are straight out of Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals playbook: Ridicule as well as “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
This is why good people don’t want to go into politics anymore. Eastman got his law degree from the prestigious University of Chicago Law School, where he was editor of the law review. Clark graduated from Harvard. This is doubly impressive considering they are white men. If they had never assisted Trump in 2020 with election challenges, the left would have left them alone. But instead, both are being prosecuted by Fulton County, Eastman is also under prosecution in Arizona, and bars are seeking to strip their law licenses.
Fortunately, the left finally grasped too far when they went after the most reputable people on the right; it backfired because their prosecutions and disbarments are now falling apart as Trump turns the prosecutions around, going after the prosecutors and judges. Letitia James and James Comey were indicted, and Jack Smith, Alvin Bragg and Aaron Zelinsky are under investigation. Multiple federal prosecutors were fired. Judges Juan Merchan, Arthur Engoron, Beryl Hall and Tanya Chutkan are under review. We can only hope some of this sticks and serves as a deterrent, since eventually the Democrats will be back in power.
