Democrats gave us plus-size models — overweight women with cute faces who got work because they “look like real women” as obesity became the norm. Now the right is whining about women being too fit for their age, or whatever. Here’s an idea: why doesn’t everyone just grow the hell up and get over themselves?
What set this off was the rash of stories about Demi Moore at the Cannes Film Festival. The New York Post tweeted, “Demi Moore’s toned arms take center stage on Cannes Film Festival 2026 red carpet,” along with a picture of the actress and, well, her arms.
If that sounds stupid to you, that’s only because it is stupid.
Demi Moore is 63 years old and not only looks good for her age, but she looks better than most people do at any age in their lives. She’s fit, not frail. But “frail” has been used to describe her because people are morons, more interested in clickbait and engagement money than anything else.
Google AI says, “Frail describes someone or something that is weak, unhealthy, delicate, or easily broken/damaged. It often refers to physical weakness, particularly in elderly people, but can also describe something structurally unsound or a person who is morally weak.” While I can’t speak to her morals, nothing about Demi Moore seems “structurally unsound” or physically weak, she’s just skinny.

Are we so used to everyone carrying extra pounds that someone who isn’t is considered an anomaly who must have something wrong with them?
The Post wrote, “Demi Moore’s fit figure was on full display on opening night of the 79th Cannes Film Festival. The actress turned heads Tuesday in France while walking the red carpet in a strapless, sequin Jacquemus gown that highlighted her toned arms.” Soon after, the tone of stories about her turned.
“Demi Moore’s Thin Appearance at Cannes Sparks Health Concerns,” read the Daily Beast headline. The Daily Caller had one reading, “Demi Moore’s Shocking Red Carpet Appearance Sums Up Hollywood’s Twisted Culture.” Being fit is now “twisted culture”?
Look, Demi Moore or even someone with five percent body fat may not be your cup of tea, but when was the last time you saw an obese elderly person? Not that 63 is elderly, but you get the idea.
You don’t see them often, and if you do, they’re usually rich — which means they can pay doctors to come sweep their arteries or whatever, maybe even buy organs from China (just kidding, mostly).
Fat is not healthy, no matter how many feature stories in Vanity Fair or People declare it to be. That doesn’t make it inherently unhealthy, especially when you’re younger, but there is never going to be someone any sane doctor would say, “Aside from growing into the couch because he’s been unable to lift his own weight for the last 10 years, this guy is fit as a fiddle” or “The all Doritos diet is one of the greatest ways to avoid his cholesterol since the all Twinkie diet stamped out type-2 diabetes.”
Can’t we all just get sane again, even a little? The leftist nanny staters went on a crusade against smoking in the 2000s, then started legalizing marijuana in the 2010s. How, exactly, did they think most people used weed?
Now the “body positivity” movement cheers the overweight and attacks anyone who they deem to be “too thin.” If you can be “healthy” at 500 pounds, how can 120 be a death sentence? If needing a wall removed from your house so a forklift can get you into an ambulance and a series of brooms and a garden hose are required for a shower, why is not being winded by the thought of standing up or having the same waist measurements as you did in high school somehow an afront to people or a sign of mental illness?
The truth is, everyone would love to have the same waistline they had in high school, we just don’t because we’ve put on weight (you can decide for yourself if you’re fat or not). As such, we’re a little jealous of people who look good as they age and haven’t swelled. Demi Moore isn’t the problem; the people whining about her are. And so is the entire industry built around lying to people about what is and isn’t healthy for fun, profit, clicks and political gain.
Now get off your a*s and go for a walk before you grow into that couch!
