You Don't Get It, Do You?

If the US takes care of its interests and Israel benefits, is that so bad?

Let’s imagine a dad who decides to get into shape. He stops drinking and smoking, starts to run and lift weights and makes sure that he gets a good night’s sleep. After a few months, he has lost a lot of weight and can run farther and lift more than he ever could in his life. He may have put off serious illness and added a couple of years to his life. Sounds like a win, right?

Is the fellow the only one who benefits from the new dad? Most obviously not. His wife has a stronger and better partner, and the kids have a guy who will hopefully be around longer during their own lives. His improved health is a boon for himself and many others. Now, let’s imagine a dad with a somewhat twisted mind. He feels that his wife nags him all of the time, and in truth, he doesn’t look forward to spending the next 50 years with his kids. So, though he would like to be thinner and healthier, the downsides are too great, and he chooses not to change his eating and lifestyle habits. Most people would consider him an idiot, and rightly so.

Let’s take our daddy analogy to the war in Iran. Kamala Harris opened her mouth and, as expected, only dunce cap stupidity came out. She continued with the canard popular on both the freaky left and the Weirdo Right that Bibi Netanyahu pushed Donald Trump into the Iran War. Joe Kent, just before his last circle around the drain, also sells these tired goods. While everybody knows that Donald Trump is headstrong and that nobody beyond Melania can get him to do something that he does not want to do, the Israel/Jew haters have a dilemma. For years, they (including VP Cackles as late as 2024) have all correctly pointed out that Iran is an enemy of the United States of America. From the original sin of taking our people hostage and through IEDs that killed and maimed hundreds of US servicemen, Iran has been pure evil in its relationship to its branded “Big Satan” ®. So when Donald Trump attacked last June, and again this year, those selling the Bibi Made Him Do It sop should have been thrilled that the US is finally dealing with one of its two biggest global enemies (the other being China). Instead, they invented a story of Bibi coercing Trump into war—though there are 30-year-old clips of Trump suggesting military action might be required against Tehran.

What bothers the cranks from Kamala to Tucker? That Israel will get an upside. If the mullahs go down or if Iran is significantly weakened, then Israel benefits in many ways. There will be no or less money for the “H’s”: Hezbollah, Hamas, and Houthis. There will be less of a ballistic threat for Israel’s citizens, and the chance of nuclear annihilation goes down significantly. If there is full-blown regime change, then Israel hits the jackpot: a possible return to friendly relations that ended with Khomeini’s return to take power from the Shah. And the Jew/Israeli haters can’t take it that Israel stands to gain from the present war. And though President Trump has said many times that “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” by which he means that they will not have a nuclear weapon or a ballistic missile that could deliver it to the US, the haters say that Bibi made him do it, because Israel stands to benefit. The fact that Israel is flying with the US and sharing the risks and target sets is meaningless to this crew. If Israel benefits, then they would rather have the fat and out-of-shape dad, or in this case, Iran on its way to a bomb to send to Tel Aviv. Cackles Harris said that Iran was the US’s greatest enemy and Tucker said that the country was run by lunatics and deserves to be destroyed. But when they see Israel and the US flying side-by-side and Israel standing to also benefit from US attacks, they can’t help themselves. Bibi pushed Trump into the war, though the president and everyone around him say otherwise. They can’t accept that the Jews may be a bit safer. How they must have cried when Yahya Al-Sinwar was finally tracked down and killed. Here was a guy who knew how to kill Jews en masse, and now he’s dead. In their eyes: sad.

I am an American, and I am rooting for the United States. When the US fleet returns to its American bases and Iran can no longer threaten the US directly or through proxies for decades to come, I will raise a glass “l’chaim”. Living in Israel, I will be glad that we won’t have to run off to the bomb shelter or learn how to live in a post-apocalypse society. Is that so bad? For those who hate Israel and, by extension, Jews, of course it is. There is a story in the Talmud that God invites King David and King Jeroboam to join Him in the Garden of Eden. The latter king, who was considered quite wicked in his day, asked the Boss who would enter first. He was told that King David would go first, so he declined the offer completely. And this is the attitude of those accusing kosher Americans like Ben Shapiro of being “Israel First”. It’s a canard that exists to hide their personal loathing of Jews. That American Jews want the best for the US, which will also translate into good for Israel, does not seem so strange. But when one is willing to accept a benefit for America but absolutely refuses that Israel should be better off, then he has to turn himself or herself into a pretzel: Bibi forced the war on Trump! Israel wants to conquer part of Iran! Any losses of US men and material are Israel’s fault! Man, lefties and loony righties—get a life. Donald Trump once again this week said that Bibi did not push him into the current war.

I have seen sports teams that hated one member to the point that others did not want to win, so that he would lose. This is not the mark of a champion. I am sure that Tom Brady, Ronaldo and Messi had teammates that they did not care for, but first and foremost for them was winning. And if the jerk in the same-colored jersey also gets a medal or a ring, that’s okay. Post-Holocaust, it’s very hard in the West (but not for Muslims, wherever they are) to say, “Let’s go kill the Jews.” So people do all kinds of strange dances where they claim to be anti-Zionist but not antisemitic. But their ending point is always the same: we hate the Jews but try to say so artfully by couching it in Zionism, Israel, etc. If the same Iran were a neighbor of China and had nothing to do with the Middle East, Carlson, Kent and the rest of the cabal could get on board with the war. That the Jews might see some serious upside—then they’re against it on principle.

When I used to give talks about the suicide bombing we experienced, I asked if my American listeners could strap on a bomb with nails and detonate themselves in proximity to people whom they had never known? They thought I was mad. But that is what Muslim terrorists do against Jews and, more recently, Christians. Iran is an enemy that wishes to destroy all. Weakening it significantly is good for America, which means that I am in favor.
