There are two major factions in America today, Left and Right, liberal and conservative, Democrat and Republican—whatever we wish to call them—that are vying for the minds and hearts of the American people. We have allowed the federal government to have way too much power, far, far more power than our Founding Fathers intended it to have, and thus, with so much power now being in the hands of the feds, those with megalomaniacal inclinations want to control that government, and that exists on both sides of the aisle.
The major dividing issue is the kind of America that the two sides want. Therein lies the main problem. Right and Left desire two different Americas. Conservatives seek a virtuous, limited government, based upon traditional Judeo-Christian values, as intended by our Founders and as embodied in the Declaration of Independence and 1789 Constitution. The Left has rejected that vision of the country and does not want it at all. Frankly, they hate that kind of America—and those who argue for it. Leftists—all over the world, and that means America, too—crave a totalitarian, Marxist government with them, of course, in control of it. The two visions are polar opposites. How long they can exist together in a democracy is anybody's guess.
I sincerely doubt most "common people" in the Democratic Party understand the difference noted above, but the Left's leaders certainly know what they are doing and fighting for. But they can't tell that to the masses. Communism never tells the people, in advance, what it has in store for them. It always lies; it has to. Nobody would want it otherwise.
The main issue, currently, in Minnesota is the illegal alien problem. You and I, Mr. Trump, ICE, view this, not necessarily as a "limited government" issue, but one of law and order. The people who are illegally in the country are breaking the law. ICE's main job is to find them and deport them. That's what ICE does. They should be deported because they are in America illegally. It's a law and order issue.
But law and order are not as important right now to the Left as accomplishing their vision of America. This is not a law and order matter for them. To Democrats, to the Left, this is totally a political concern; indeed, it is 100 percent political.

They want the illegals in the country because they want political power; they want to give these people amnesty, citizenship, and the right to vote, hoping and believing they will vote for the Democratic Party. It is 100 percent—100 percent—a political issue to the Democrats.
To the Left, it is a question of political power over law and order. They don't mind breaking the law if it helps them gain, then hold, political power.
America, of course, is a democratic republic, which means that our representatives are in power through elections. Right now, the radical Left is trying to gain a majority by importing illegals and giving them the vote because they know they haven't been able to persuade a majority of people that their far-left agenda is best for the nation. Thus, they must import people and hope they can come to power democratically. If they can't do it that way, they might resort to civil war. That option isn't palatable to most Americans, so the Left, currently, will try to come to power through the political process, and that means giving the illegal aliens the right to vote.
Once they come to power, the Left won't care if they've got a majority or not as long as they control the government. And mainly as long as they control the military. Let me make a comparison with communist China. If there were free and fair elections today in China, there is a very, very good chance that the Communist Party would lose because most of the people in that country don't like communism any more than they do anyplace else. Thus, the CCP doesn't allow other political parties to exist, and won't permit elections because they know they'd probably lose.
The Communist Party is probably a minority in China (it certainly was in the USSR), but they control the government, and most importantly, they control the military, so that if the people revolt (Tiananmen Square, 1989), the CCP (totalitarian government) will be able to crush it. That is exactly what the Democrats want in America—enough political and military power to crush all resistance (Joe Biden's F-16s). If they control the military, they will have the power they want. In America, they're probably, initially, going to have to come to power through the current political process, but other communist countries have used civil wars, and it's not impossible that Minnesota is seeing the first shots in such a war. The Left wants power, and they'll try to obtain it any way they can.
We know what Tiananmen Square was in China—an uprising to try to overthrow the Communist Party and establish democracy in China. We know that, and we know what happened to it. The Chinese people know it, too, which is why they are currently totally cowed. The CCP controls the military.
Right now, in the protests in Minnesota, Democrats are hoping that they can convince enough people that ICE is a monster, Trump is a dictator, and that the people will vote the Democratic Party into power. In power, they will have control of the legislature and pass laws that will give illegal immigrants citizenship and the right to vote. I have no doubt that is what they will do to solidify their power. If it doesn't work, then well, most Marxist governments used civil war to gain power.
Don't be surprised if the Left in America eventually does the same thing.
