There are a lot of things you can say about Nancy Pelosi – most are nasty and all the nasty stuff is true – but her hand-picked puppet successor, New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, is everything worthless about her but with none of the skills she possessed. In short, Republicans are lucky the Democrats picked such a dour, dragging dope to be their leader.
When I see Jeffries talk, the first thing that comes to mind is a stoner struggling to function. His eyes always look on the verge of closing, like he’s just about to pass out. He’s not high, obviously (he’d be more entertaining if he were), but he sure looks like it.
When he talks, the pot aura only intensifies. Nasally drone, peppered with nonsense, spews from his piehole with very little point. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen him speak about anything other than how Republicans suck and Democrats want good things. The easiest way to stump him would be to throw the diabolical question “How?” at him.
Think about it, what are your memories of Hakeem Jeffries? What are his accomplishments? What is a memorable moment or quip? There is nothing, literally nothing. Never before has anyone risen to the top of their party by simply existing.
On the pathway to leadership, you almost have to try to accomplish nothing. That, I guess, is a skill.

Otherwise, Hakeem Jeffries is a DEI hire.
Worse than that, Nancy Pelosi worked behind the scenes to actually do the job of Minority Leader, even though she allegedly gave it up a few years ago.
Who have you seen more of, her or Jeffries? Who does more and higher-profile interviews? Who does the media and the rest of the Democratic party turn to when they need comment, answers or guidance? It’s NOT Hakeem Jeffries.
If a white Republican had done something so marginalizing and condescending to a black Republican, the media would never stop vomiting about how racist it was for whitey to usurp the power of a person of color. A rich, old white lady does it over the course of years, refusing to cede the actual control – sure, she gave him the physical office and title, but that’s about it – and it would be compared to the beating Democrats gave civil rights workers on the Edmond Pettus Bridge.
It's hard to say Jeffries has been “reduced” to only sending fundraising emails and once-per-week press conferences, but only because that’s as high as he’s been elevated. That makes “reducing” anyone to that nearly impossible.
But honestly, that is what Jeffries does.
His name is assigned to random, seemingly computer-generated fundraising emails that have all the branding of “BEER” brand beer cans. I’m not sure what his name is assigned to could be more generic on a dare.
Meanwhile, Pelosi is still raising money like a champ. Her name carries weight, his needs reminding as to who he is.
She sends more emails than he does, and she does so on behalf of herself and her former campaign, meaning she gets to direct where the money goes and who gets it. His name is on emails from the party or the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee – meaning the cash comes in to places he does not have control over.
Pelosi is still consolidating power for herself, which she will be able to command after she leaves, and he can’t even get favors from Members now.
A big part of rising to power in Congress is that you’ve raised money to help other people in your party get elected or reelected. Pelosi, in that sense, has a high body count. Who owes their seat to Hakeem Jeffries? No one.
Hakeem Jeffries is one of the least inspiring speakers and leaders I’ve ever seen, and he has no deep ties to the party or any of the people in it. Once Nancy actually leaves and it comes time to pick leaders in the next Congress, don’t be surprised if Hakeem Jeffries finds himself on the outside looking in.
Nancy was reelected to leadership despite having overseen the loss of the House multiple times. If Hakeem doesn’t win it this time, he’s gone. If Democrats win it this time, there’s still a pretty good chance he’s gone. He inspires no one and nothing. In that sense, he’s the best leader of Democrats that Republicans could ever hope for.
