‘This Week’ Is Left-Wing Propaganda

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

The Sunday news programs used to be worth watching, places where you could have more in-depth interviews with newsmakers than the awful cable news channels are willing or able to do. Now they are no better than that. In fact, they are significantly worse. While “Meet the Press” has actually gone downhill since Kristen Welker took over – in a bit of a miracle, she managed to be less informed of non-liberal reality than the Ginger Avenger Chuck Todd – “This Week” takes the cake in being the weekend outhouse of “news” programs.

If you thought George Stephanopoulos – a guy who was such good friends with his fellow Democrat Jeffrey Epstein that he attended a “welcome home dinner” for the child rapist after he was freed from house arrest for his perversions – was bad, Jonathan Karl appears to have set out to “out-a*****e” Georgie-boy. While both have the arrogance of Goebbels when it comes to spewing a progressive narrative, George doesn’t work often enough to even register as a host.

It's a testament to George’s ego that a show he hosts, maybe once a month, is officially titled “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and not just “This Week.” His agent is earning their 10 percent, just like his crisis PR team earned theirs to help him survive the closeness of his Epstein friendship.

Yesterday, I watched Jonathan Karl give verbal oral sex to Maryland liberal Senator and illegal alien accused human smuggler and domestic abuser best friend Chris Van Hollen over pretty much every issue he was asked about. The first question ended with “What do you make of this?”

Maybe Karl is stupid, but that’s not a question; that’s a caddy putting the ball on a tee for a bloated rich guy hoping to get a big tip.

Senator Judge Smails answered, “This is a desperate attempt of the Trump administration to blame everybody else in the world and not accept any accountability. As you pointed out in your interview with the secretary, it was the Trump administration that was last in time when it came to vetting. And I can tell you that they come before Capitol Hill, the secretary of Homeland Security, FBI director, and they tell us how they have improved the vetting processes, and now they are trying to blame everything on the Biden administration. This is a president who refuses to take accountability for anything.”

Karl didn’t question anything Van Hollen said in any way, responding, “It was also interesting that she said that he was radicalized here in the United States.” “Also interesting” implies that the partisan attack from the Senator was interesting and Karl was going to add more interesting information. No questioning the honesty of what Van Hollen said; it was beyond acceptance, it was agreement.

Next came some agreement, hemming and hawing, and finally, “You were a big advocate, I mean, a lot of people were, both parties, for bringing the Afghan citizens who worked with the United States during the war on terror to the United States once the Taliban took over. Do you now have concerns that this might not have been a one-off, that there have been gaps in vetting and that there could be, you know, more problems?”

Any concerns? How about any blood on his hands?

Karl switched subjects, asking, “So let me ask you about that ‘Washington Post’ report on the --on the attack on that Venezuelan alleged drug boat. What do you make of what happened there? Do you think there was a war crime committed?”

Then came this gem, “So -- so let me -- before you go, I want to also ask you about a ‘New York Times’ story that I'm sure caught your attention about a group of Democratic senators who call themselves the ‘fight club’ of the Senate who are pushing Chuck Schumer and others in leadership to fight harder against Donald Trump and his policy. ‘The New York Times’ writes, ‘The effort also amounts to an extraordinary preemptive challenge to Mr. Schumer at the earliest stages of the 2026 midterm races.’ They -- they list your name first as a member of the-- of this fight club. What -- what is the -- what's the strategy here?”

Is there a real question there? I’ll save you looking, there is not. Democrats are mad and Schumer, plus they don’t like Jews, so he has a target on his back. Karl and his ilk are only to happy to help in those attacks, as they are as disappointed as anyone with Chuck.

Then Karl let panelist Faiz Shakir (Democrat, naturally) simply declare, “There is a lot of anger towards Donald Trump. This is a guy you don't trust with power, and engage in many illegal actions [sic]. We don't have to document them all right now.”

No questioning it, just acceptance. That’s how all Democrats are, it’s 98 percent of the programming on MS Now – someone declares Trump to be a criminal using his office to enrich himself and no one ever asks how, they just nod. It has to be true, EVERYONE says it and…it just has to be true.

This is journalism now, this is “This Week” every week. They make Goebbels blush.
