Those of us who consider ourselves “normal” human beings—believers in traditional, reasonable modes of human conduct, i.e., family, hard work, protection of property, concern for the well-being of others, decency, human dignity—we who hold to these traditional principles have become utterly appalled at what we have come to witness in about half of America today. We call the above “normal,” but they aren’t “normal” to many Americans anymore and “normality” is no longer subject to any majority agreement in the country.
For example, J. B. Pritzker and Brandon Johnson are extremely upset that President Trump wants to try to end the horrendous crime in Chicago. Johnson threatened marches and riots if Mr. Trump sends in the National Guard or federal troops to try to do normal things that government is supposed to do, like protect property or keep people from killing one another. How in the world could any decent human be opposed to stopping this barbarism? But then, how could Democrats in these cities ever let it happen in the first place? The prime function of government is to “secure” our rights, i.e., protect us from those who attempt to take them from us through criminal activity. But the Democrats defend the criminals, and are screaming bloody murder that Trump wants to guard the American people from savages. What’s normal now?
How could anybody get so far away from common sense and propriety as the current Democratic Party has done? Can’t we at least agree that people’s lives and property ought to be protected?
No, we can’t, because the Democrats won’t/don’t do it and don’t want Trump to do it, either.
And then there are other incredible (to us “normals”) degeneracies in our society, defended vociferously and sometimes viciously by half the population (Democrats). The mutilation of children for sexual reasons, “grooming” children in school to become homosexual, men marrying men, women marrying women, men claiming to be women and visa-versa (transgenderism), drag queens and drag shows, “pride” in something most Americans, for most of our Judeo-Christian based history, believed was a God-cursed abomination, pedophilia, abortion upon demand up to, and maybe even beyond, the point of birth—every bit of this, and much more, would have been horrifying to Americans even 100 years ago, most of it 50 years ago. Much of it was utterly unheard of, not just in “polite conversation,” but in ANY conversation among earlier Americans.
But now, this is the crux of the Democratic Party. It is (along with Marxist economics) among their core beliefs. Pritzker and Johnson are simply Leftists, obsessed with power. But the horror is, they think they can gain and keep power by appealing to people who believe in the above things. That’s the Democratic Party constituency now, and woe be to any American who opposes it.
But most of the above is utterly ridiculous—revolting—in “normal” times, i.e., in decent, moral, common-sense periods of human history. Oh, there has always been crime and debauchery, of course, but “normal” people have always understood that such activity must been minimized, censored, and ostracized if civilization is going to exist. American cities like Chicago are barbarian havens, and the Democratic Party is defending it.
How—why—did this happen?
It happened in America because we have become adrift from any moral standard that we can agree upon. The United States was founded upon the Judeo-Christian moral system. It was believed, by 99-plus percent of Americans, for most of our history, that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” and “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Our people certainly never perfectly observed either of those precepts, but we largely acceded to them and agreed what they meant. And they didn't mean what the Democratic Party is propagating now.
As inconsistent as we were in the application, however, Americans agreed upon what right and wrong were, we assented to the standard of “knowledge” and “wisdom” by which all things should be judged—God’s word. We had moral roots, we had a moral foundation, we had something to compare activities to and judge them as either “good” or “evil.” We knew.
But, gradually, in the past few generations, the drift began. A large portion of America—and now, the entire Democratic Party and many Republicans—reject that knowledge and wisdom begin with God. A sizable group of Americans discarded that heritage and have given us…what? What do we agree on, morally, now? Thou shalt not kill? Or steal? Or commit adultery or fornication? No, we don’t even agree on that anymore.
What moral roots has the Left bestowed upon us? What is the foundation upon which our country is now united, since so many reject what earlier Americans believed was the source of knowledge and wisdom? What “knowledge” and “wisdom” does the Left compare actions against, except their own ever-evolving standard? Two decades ago, even Joe Biden said marriage was between a man and a woman. What standard was he using then? What standard does he use now?
The Left has thrown out any orthodoxy other than “every man does that which is right in his own eyes,” and whatever pleases him at the moment. They now defend moral nihilism, i.e., moral standards no longer exist except what the Left create as an exigency that will increase their power over others. “If there is no God, then everything is permitted,” Sarte said, and that is the modern Democratic Party. That is J. B. Pritzker and Brandon Johnson. And when no buoy is seen, a ship will drift aimlessly, with no reference point at all.
There is no end to Leftist moral drift; they judge only by what works for them at the moment. And they have descended into what we “normal” people think is absurdity, not to mention abominable.
