We Get the Government We Deserve

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Recent headline: “Judge Releases Illegal MigrantKilmar Abrego Garcia.” Another: “Trump Administration Seals Landmark Deal: U.S. Government Holds 10% Stake in Intel.” I didn’t vote for illegal criminals to remain in the country, nor did I vote for a government takeover of business. One illegal criminal in the country is one too many, and one-tenth of government ownership of Intel is one-tenth socialism, and that’s100% too much.

But we get the government we deserve. We, the people, have let the country head towards the toilet, and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

We have been complaining for a long time how horrible the American education system has become. We look at the test results, and we see how clueless our people are about countless things. Decent people also perceive how godless and immoral the nation has become, and we at least partially should blame the education system, although ultimately God gave fathers and mothers the responsibility to raise and train their children, not government. When parents abdicate too much of that responsibility to the government, then, well, we get the incredible amount of ignorance, stupidity, and immorality that currently curses our nation.

People cannot rise above what they have been taught. Most people do not study, or think, for themselves, they simply absorb, and then regurgitate, what they have been taught and the “zeitgeist” around them. That is education, and it is failing our society miserably.

The American population, 350 million strong, is the pool from which we select our government leaders, and the vast majority of Americans have been educated within the incompetent government education system. And since most Americans don't have the ability to rise above it, then the American people will vote for what they have been taught to vote for.

Folks, how can we be surprised that our Congress and state governments are so full of stupid, immoral people when those people have been educated in a systemdesigned to produce exactly that kind of offspring? Andthey are elected by people educated in that samesystem. When we have a government full of stupid, immoral people, then don't be shocked when government does stupid, immoral things. How could it be otherwise?

When we look at the American government today, we see a Democratic Party full of wicked, evil, degenerate barbarians. Given what they are, and aren’t, being taught in our schools—who can be surprised?

Excellence, virtue, God, righteousness, morality, are out. Our children are being taught live and let live,”every man does that which is right in his own eyes. And thus, the result is crass buffoonery and godlessimmorality among countless Americans. People ARE smart enough to grasp the implications of the philosophy they’re being saturated with on every front. Atheism and epicureanism.

We get what we educate.

When we start educating our children in God’s Ten Commandments, when we begin teaching our children again that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, then we'll start producing again a virtuous, righteous people. But when we continue to teach them atheistic, Darwinian naturalism with its moral relativism, we’re going to continue to suffer from the moral climate that now dominates in the nation.

America now has massive numbers of people who believe that men can become women just by saying they are, that men can marry men and women can marry women with God's approval, that children can be mutilated for sexually perverted reasons. Why do we have people like that, an entire political party that believes such? We're getting these kinds of people because that's what they are being taught.

Noah Webster said, “Education is useless without the Bible,” that is, the most important part of education is moraleducation, virtue, excellence, integrity. It matters not if a person can add two plus two if he's a wicked, evil cur. And we are not educating our people in excellence, virtue, and morality. “Every man does that which is right in his own eyes” will not produce the virtue and moral excellence needed for the survival of freedom.

And our Congress is not helping one bit. There'snothing special about the people we elect to Congress. They're not any smarter than the rest of us. They're not any more moral than we are. They're human beings, just like you and I, believing whatever stupidity they’ve been taught. 99% of them cannot rise above it because there is nothing superior about them. They do what they are educated to do. And Democrats are educated in decadence and dependence. National destruction. That’s why they do what they do. They don’t know any better, although they should.

But Americans elect them from within our midst. Ultimately, it’s our responsibility and our fault. Yes, Congress has let the country down. But so has our people.

We have a very, very serious problem in America right now, and it's called the education system. The Left still controls it. I think Mr. Trump would like to turn it around, but it’s a monumental task. And even then, I have heard very little talk about going back to virtue, excellence, the Ten Commandments, a noble education. And until we do, this country will continue to drift in a stupid, leftward, decadent, godless direction.

Human beings, by their own wisdom, have never in history had the answers. And Americans don't have the answers either. There's nothing special about Americans where we are somehow innately smarter than the rest of manking. James Madison said it very well: The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded.” And if we don’t know those laws, if we continue to depend upon ourselves alone, we’re finished as a great nation.

We get the government we deserve.  And we’ll keep getting it, one way or another.
